The same thing can’t be good for everyone. For example, the so called development may be considered development for humanbeings; but it is not development for the environment, flora and fauna. Another example is building of thermal or nuclear powerplants. Their development may give benefit to many people by supplying them theelectricity. V. Long Answer Type Questionow were railways introduced in India? |
|
Answer» First of all India was the colony of British.British looked to India as a source of rawmaterials. So to carry these raw materials to port ,they needed some kind of communication.Railway was the best way forward.Secondly railway was developed as a source of profit for Britist capital class. They were promised of the 5% return for their investment.Railway acted as source of oppression by reaching to large number of people.Railway even acted as a pacifier in the event of rebellion so that soldiers can be reached at the trouble site within short time.Apart from these negatives there were some positives as Railway acted a source of unification for the people of India as many people could travel to remote places. The feeeling of Real India or One India becametrue.Ithelped in the freedom struggle to a large extent.A plan for a rail system in India was first put forward in 1832, but no further steps were taken for more than a decade. In 1844, the Governor General of India Lord Harding allowed private entrepreneurs to set up a rail system in India. Two new railway companies, Great Indian Peninsular Railway (GIPR) and East Indian Railway (EIR), were created and the East India Company was asked to assist them. Interest from investors in the UK led to the rapid creation of a rail system over the next few years. The first train in India became operational on 22 December 1851, and was used for the hauling ofconstruction material in Roorkee. A year and a half later, on 16 April 1853, the first passenger train service was inaugurated between Bori Bunder, Bombay and Thane. Covering a distance of 34 km (21 miles), it was hauled by three locomotives, Sahib, Sindh and Sultan. This was the formal birth of railways in India. |

What is the prime Minister in India (Long answer type question) |
|
Answer» Narendra Damodardas Modi (born 17 September 1950) is an Indian politician serving as the14thand, since 2014, the currentPrime Minister of India. He was theChief MinisterofGujaratfrom 2001 to 2014, and is theMember of ParliamentforVaranasi. Modi, a member of theBharatiya Janata Party(BJP), is aHindu nationalistand member of the right-wingRashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh(RSS).Born to a Gujarati family inVadnagar, Modi helped his father sell tea as a child and later ran his own stall. He was introduced to the RSS at the age of eight, beginning a long association with the organisation. He left home after graduating from school, partly because of anarranged marriagewhich he rejected. Modi travelled around India for two years and visited a number of religious centres. He returned to Gujarat and moved toAhmedabadin 1969 or 1970. In 1971 he became a full-time worker for the RSS. During thestate of emergencyimposed across the country in 1975, Modi was forced to go into hiding. The RSS assigned him to the BJP in 1985, and he held several positions within the party hierarchy until 2001, rising to the rank of general secretary. Modi was appointed Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001, due toKeshubhai Patel's failing health and poor public image following theearthquake in Bhuj. Modi was elected to the legislative assembly soon after. His administration has been considered complicit in the2002 Gujarat riots, or otherwise criticised for its handling of it, however a Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) found no evidence to initiate prosecution proceedings. His policies as chief minister, credited with encouraging economic growth, have received praise. His administration has been criticised for failing to significantly improve health, poverty, and education indices in the state. Modi led the BJP in the2014 general election, which gave the party a majority in theLok Sabha, the first time a single party had achieved this since 1984. Modi himself was elected to parliament from Varanasi. Since taking office, Modi's administration has tried to raise foreign direct investment in the Indian economy, increased spending on infrastructure, and reduced spending on healthcare and social welfare programmes. Modi has attempted to improve efficiency in the bureaucracy, and centralised power by abolishing the planning commission and replacing it with theNITI Aayog. He has begun a high-profile sanitation campaign, and weakened or abolished environmental and labour laws. Credited with engineering a political realignment towardsright-wing politics, Modi remains a figure of controversy domestically and internationally over his Hindu nationalist beliefs and his role during the 2002 Gujarat riots, cited as evidence of anexclusionary socialagenda. what has made the praries advances regions? |
|
Answer» long answer One reason which can be why priaries are advanced regions is: Geographical Advantages of the Prairies: Vast uplands covered by grasses are called grasslands. The grasslands cover about one-fourth of the earth’s land and are either large, flat lands, or areas with rolling hills. The climate and soil play an important role in the formation of grasslands. There are two kinds of grasslands. Tropical grasslands, also called the Savannas, are located around the equator and the Temperate grasslands, called the prairies in North America, steppes in Eurasia, downs in Australia, pampas in South America, and velds in South Africa. The prairies are found both in USA and Canada and stretch from the Rocky mountains to the Great lakes. The tributaries of the river Saskatchewan in Canada and the river Mississippi in the USA drain the prairies. The summers in these regions are moderate with the average temperature of 20 degrees Celsius while the winters can be very cold, with the temperatures going as low as 20 degrees below zero. The Prairies receive 25 to 76 centimeters of rainfall annually. The environmental of the prairies foster the cultivation of crops like wheat, maize, corn, oats, barley, rye and oil seeds. The important animals of the region are the bison or the American buffalo, and the pronghorn. Other animals found in this region are rabbits, coyotes, ground squirrels and the prairie dog. The most important occupations of the people here are cultivation and dairy farming. Due to immense natural resources and the use of advanced scientific methods in cultivation, these areas produce a surplus of wheat, and are, known as the “Granaries” or the “Wheat Basket of the World.” An abundance of mineral deposits like coal and iron is also found in this region. |

14. Explain with examples uneven distributionofpopulationdensityinIndia. |
| Answer» | |
| 9398. |
6. Why do you think areas with high annual rainfall and high population density will facewater scarcity?Ans. |
|
Answer» Areas with high annual rainfall and high population density may face water scarcity because the rate of use of water may be more than the natural rate of replenishment by rainfall. Due to high population, too much of groundwater may get used. It will not be possible for that groundwater reserve to get replenished by the natural rainfall. |

How does climate influence the distribution and density of population in an areaExplain with examples. |
|
Answer» Climate is as important as terrain in influencing population. Of all the climatic factors, twin elements of rainfall and temperature play the most important role in determining the population of an area. Man cannot go beyond the limits set by climate. Extremes of climate discourage the concentration of population. Such climates include the too cold climate of Himalayas, and the too hot and dry climate of the Thar Desert. A moderate climate, on the other hand, is favourable for population.Of the twin factors of rainfall and temperature, rainfall is more effective in determining the distribution of population. It is generally said that the population map of India follows its rainfall map. Rainfall supplies sufficient water for agriculture which is the main occupation of Indian masses. As we move from the Ganga-Brahmaputra Delta in the east towards the Thar Desert in the west, the amount of rainfall and consequently the density of population decrease. However, there are a few exceptions to this general observation. The Assam valley in the north-east and the Circars coast on the Bay of Bengal has moderate density of population although these areas receive heavy rainfall. Similarly, southern face of the Himalayas is scarcely populated though this area receives sufficiently high rainfall. Alternatively; Some of the adverse factors such as steep slope, frequent floods, infertile soils and dense forests counterbalance the positive effect of rainfall. Increased use of irrigation facilities in north-west India comprising Punjab, Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh has resulted in higher concentration of population than normally expected considering the amount of rainfall received by this region. Since India is a tropical country, temperature is fairly high and does not play as important a role as is done by rainfall except in extreme cases. On high altitudes, in the Himalayan region, climate is too cold beyond 2,000 m and population is sparse there. There is practically no population in areas over 3,000 m above sea level. |
