analyse any two features of harappa culture characterise it as first urban in India answer in 60 words

Answer»
9202.

13)India has a large cultural, regional, diversity, but there is unity among people. what factors were responsible for this? elaborate

Answer»

1. Geographical Unity:India has its own fixed natural boundary, because of which different communities are forced to live together. It is surrounded on the one side by the great Himalayan range and on the other sides by the high seas. India has always referred to this vast land expanding from the Himalayas in the North to the Kanya Kumari in the South. Even today India includes the realization of a geographical unity.

2. Religious Unity:

Religious unity can be divided into three levels:

Firstly, the unity among various religious groups, such as Hindu, Muslim, Christian etc. All these religions have some common principles like principles of benevolence, honesty, faith in an invisible power, value of life etc.

Secondly, the unity among the different sects of Hindu religion. It is based on a common faith system or belief system. All of them believe in immortality of soul, temporary nature of world, doctrine of karma etc.

Thirdly, the unity among the Hindus who are scattered all over India.

There are some religious elements accepted by each and every Hindu without considering their differences in ideas, customs, caste etc. Some of the epics like Mahabharat, Ramayan, Bhagbat are accepted by all.

The unity is expressed through the places of worship scattered ah over the country, like Badrinath, Dwarka, Rameswar, Puri etc. The pilgrimage to all the religious places creates the feeling of patriotism and a feeling for the unity of this country.

3. Cultural Unity:Indian culture possesses a fundamental unity. The fundamental approach to literature, philosophy, tradition and customs is typically Indian. Some of the religious and cultural festivals are celebrated all over the country without any consideration of caste or religion. Likewise, social institutions like caste and joint family are found throughout India. Even they are found among Muslims and Christians.

4. Linguistic Unity:In India a large number of languages are found. The problem of multiplicity of languages is solved because Sanskrit works as a link language. People of the North and the South have accepted Sanskrit as their language. Sanskrit is the only language in which the entire ancient literature and philosophy of the past are recorded.

5. Political unity:In the past India was divided into so many kingdoms. At the time of British rule the concept of political unification emerged to make India free from the clutches of the Britishers. After independence India adopted democratic system of politics which demands political unification at all its levels.

6. Racial Unity:From the earliest time India has invaded by different races such as Aryans, Shaks, Huns etc. But with the passage of time they merged so completely with the local population and culture that they lost all traces of their original nature and cannot be distinguished today. They are totally merged into Indian culture and civilization.

7. Emotional Unity:Finally, there is an emotional bond in India that binds all the members of the nation. The very word Bharat Varsha binds all Indians and emotionally they become closer to one another. They can also sacrifice their lives to protect India from foreigners.

The burning example is Kargil war. From all these facts it is obvious that India is a fine example of unity in diversity. All these areas of unity cross the boundaries of caste, creed, social custom and religious grouping to establish unity in diversities.

Answer»

Options B

Thanks

Different persons have different notions of development because life situations of persons are different. Development goals of a girl from a rich urban family will be surely different from a farmer in Rajasthan. It is because their situations, lifestyle and status are very different from each other. A goal which a person has entirely depends on his or her present life situation. Over a period of time if the situation changes, automatically goals of a person will also change.

What is boiling? how is it different from condensation?

Answer»

Boiling is the rapid vaporization of a liquid, which occurs when a liquid is heated to its boiling point, the temperature at which the vapour pressure of the liquid is equal to the pressure exerted on the liquid by the surrounding atmosphere.Condensation is the change of the physical state of matter from gas phase into liquid phase, and is the reverse of vapourisation. The word most often refers to the water cycle.

Here, without further ado but with tongue occasionally in cheek, are history’s 10 greatest entrepreneurs.

1.King Croesus.A pick by our veterans committee, Croesus, who ruled the Asia Minor kingdom of Lydia in the sixth century B.C., is owed a huge debt of gratitude for minting the world’s first coinage, thereby creating in a single stroke the lifeblood of every business: liquidity and cash flow. Moreover, his opulent lifestyle has given entrepreneurs throughout history something to shoot for. Is there a greater distinction for the commercially inclined than to be deemed “as rich as Croesus”?

2.Pope Sixtus IV. Sixtus gets the nod for realizing that the “wages of sin” meant more than unpleasant repercussions. There was money to be made in damnation, and Sixtus mined it by opening up a new market -- the dead -- for the indulgences the church had been selling for years. Relatives of the deceased quickly filled the Vatican’s coffers with payments intended to lessen the time their loved ones spent in purgatory. In 1478 Sixtus “grew his market” by authorizing the Spanish Inquisition, which swelled purgatory’s ranks by 100,000 souls in 15 years. He also was the first pope to license brothels.

3.Benjamin Franklin. In a real sense, Franklin was America’s first entrepreneur. Unlike other of the Founding Fathers -- the hypermoral Washington, the prodigiously intellectual Jefferson -- whose virtues and attainments are seen today as anachronisms, Franklin truly was a model of what many of us would become. Beneath the statesman’s mantle resided a popular author, a printer, an inventor (the lightning rod, bifocals) and a very savvy businessman who knew how to commercialize the fruits of his fertile mind.

4.P.T. Barnum.Americans have always loved a good scam and Phineas Taylor Barnum took the art to new heights. He played on our fascination with the bizarre and freakish with sideshow acts ranging from the midget Tom Thumb to Jumbo the giant elephant. In between was a host of more dubious curiosities. He created the Barnum and Bailey Circus as a showcase for all this wonderment, and dubbed it “the Greatest Show on Earth.” Along the way he invented modern advertising and became rich. For the record, he never said “There’s a sucker born every five minutes,” but he left behind plenty of other bon mots. Among them: “Every crowd has a silver lining.”

5.Thomas Edison. What do you say about the man who gave the world the electric light, the phonograph, talking motion pictures and more than 1,300 other patented inventions? That he was the world’s greatest inventor, certainly. But he was also able to exploit the profit potential in his creations, an entrepreneurial bent that asserted itself when Edison was a teen-ager, printing a newspaper in the baggage car of a rolling train and then selling copies to passengers. His impact on the way people live was and is pervasive. As a combination of inventive genius and entrepreneurial flair, he stands alone.

6.Henry Ford.Ford also fundamentally changed human lifestyles by making available a vehicle, the Model T, that vastly extended people’s range of movement. The automobile would allow America’s masses to fulfill their Manifest Destiny to populate every corner of the continent. But his more profound impact was on industry. The moving assembly line he designed to build his cars was the signal breakthrough of the Industrial Age. Appropriately, Ford earned the seed capital for his enterprise by working as an engineer at the Edison Illuminating Company in Detroit.

7.Benjamin Siegel.Known as “Bugsy” to his friends,Siegel was a notorious mobster with a touch of the visionary. Legend has it that he single-handedly invented Las Vegas, and that’s a stretch. But he was the first to see what the town could become: a lush oasis of pleasure where gambling was just one of the attractions. He also proved adept at attracting other people’s money to build his iconic resort, The Flamingo. Trouble was, some of those other people belonged to an outfit called Murder Inc., and Siegel was gunned down in 1947 amid rumors he had stolen from his partners. But give the devil his due: Before there was the Bellagio, there was Bugsy.

8.Ray Kroc.Nothing says entrepreneur like persistence, and nothings says persistence like Ray Kroc, the kitchen wares salesman who in 1954, at age 52 and in poor health, had his imagination hijacked by a family-run restaurant in the desert outside Los Angeles. Once he had bought out the McDonald brothers, Kroc proceeded to take their concept of a limited menu, fast service and low prices and expand it nationally, in the process creating the fast-food industry and dramatically affecting America’s lifestyle and, sadly, collective health.

9.H. Ross Perot.Within every entrepreneur lurks a touch of the cowboy, and there’s no better example of the strain than Perot, the diminutive Texan who has become best known in recent years as a political gadfly. Before that, though, he was all business, using a $1,000 loan from his wife in 1962 to launch Electronic Data Systems. Perot’s winning idea was that large corporations and organizations needed data-processing help if they were to take full advantage of computer technology. When in the mid-’60s he won contracts with two new federal health-care programs -- Medicare and Medicaid -- EDS was off and running and Perot was on his way to being one of America’s richest citizens.

10.Jobs & Wozniak.Apple Computer’s two Steves weren’t the first Silicon Valley entrepreneurs to launch a billion-dollar business from a Palo Alto garage -- Hewlett and Packard were there before them -- but they were the first to democratize computing by creating a machine whose use was so wonderfully intuitive that even technophobes embraced it. Combine the elegance of Wozniak’s operating system design with Jobs’ marketing savvy (remember Apple’s “1984” ad?) and the result was a true phenomenon. Yes, the Apple was eclipsed by the PC, but only after Microsoft (behind the vision of two other notable entrepreneurs, Bill Gates and Paul Allen) developed Windows to ape its rival’s ease of use.

4. What is the difference between tribal and city life.5. How human be

Answer»

The major difference between village life and citylife is the facilities; many modern facilities available in the city, make our lives easier and efficient. However, it is often difficult for villagers to get even the most basic of facilities. Moreover, there is a variety of employment opportunities in a city. Another significant difference between village life and city life is the environment; living in a village facilitates a closer to nature lifestyle while living in the city further distance people from nature. In fact, a city life is characterized by various types of pollution such as noise pollution, sound pollution, air pollution, etc. A village is calm and quiet, and villagers can enjoy the natural beauty. Another noteworthy feature in village life is that villagers are more kind, friendly and warm-hearted than city dwellers. People living in cities are relatively busy, selfish and solitary compared to villagers. In addition, another advantage of village life is that cost of living is relatively lower than in the city.A comparative analysis of village life and city life is summarized below:

In rural villages, there are few streets. The life of rural people revolves around muddy lanes. However, a city consists of many streets and hundreds of houses and buildings.

In villages, there are few small shops to meet the requirements of the rural people. There are a number of large shops along the main streets of a city.

There are few motor cars in villages. Most of the rural people travel in rickshaw and/or carts. The use of bicycles at a means of transportation is widespread at villages. Cars and other vehicles pass back and forth throughout day and night.

There are standalone cinema halls at villages. On the other hand, there are a number of Multiplexes, Cinema halls, Post Offices and other public buildings in cities and towns. Hence, the life of urban people are full of choices for entertainment.

Our village economy is mainly based on agriculture. There are few cottages industries. Many factories and foundries are to be seen in the outskirts of large cities.

The air in villages is generally fresh and pollution free. In towns, the smoke from houses, factories, vehicles, makes the air foul and unhealthy.

Long answer type questions with internal and parallel choice.Materials which allow electric current to pass through them are goodconductors of Electricity. What are the materials known as which donot allow electricity to pass through them easily? Also name thematerials which do not allow the electric current to pass through them.Illustrate your answer with suitable example.

Answer»

materials which donot allow current to pass through them are known as INSULATORS .for example : rubber, wood, plastic, etc

Insulators are the materials or substances which resist or don’t allow the current to flow through them. They are mostly solid in nature and are finding use in a variety of systems. They do not allow the flow of heat as well. The property which makes insulators different from conductors is its resistivity.Wood, cloth, glass, mica, and quartz are some good examples of insulators. Insulators are also protectorsas they give protection against heat, sound and of course passage of electricity. Insulators don’t have any free electrons and it is the main reason why they don’t conduct electricity.

Examples of Insulators

Glass is the best insulator as it has the highest resistivity.

Plastic is a good insulator and it finds its use in making a number of things.

Rubber is a common component in making tyres, fire-resistant clothes and slippers. This is because it is a very good insulator.

Applications of Insulators

Being resistive to flow of electron, insulators find application worldwide in a number of ways. Some of the common uses include:

Thermal Insulators, disallow heat to move from one place to another. We use them in making thermoplastic bottles, in fireproofing ceilings and walls.

Sound Insulators help in controlling noise level, as they are good in absorbance of sound. Therefore, we use them in buildings, conference halls, and buildings to make them noise free

Electrical Insulators hinder the flow of electron or passage of current through them. We use them extensively in circuit boards, high-voltage systems and also in coating electric wire and cables.

under ie srautai Actuade13

Answer»

Provisions of The Regulating Act

This act permitted the company to retain its territorial possessions in India but sought to regulate the activities and functioning of the company. It did not take over power completely, hence called ‘regulating’.

The act provided for appointment of a Governor-General along with four Councillors in the Presidency of Fort William (Calcutta), jointly called the Governor-General in Council.

As per this, Warren Hastings was appointed as the Governor-General of the Presidency of Fort William.

The Governors in Councils at Madras and Bombay were brought under the control of Bengal, especially in matters of foreign policy. Now, they could not wage war against Indian states without Bengal’s approval.

The company directors were elected for a period of five years and one-fourth of them were to retire every year. Also, they could not be re-elected.

The company directors were directed to make public all correspondence on revenue, civil and military matters with Indian authorities before the British authorities.

A Supreme Court of Judicature was established at Calcutta with Sir Elijah Impey as the first Chief Justice. Judges were to come from England. It had civil and criminal jurisdiction over the British subjects and not Indian natives.

s. How does this process appear in the atmospherea. The transferring of thermal energy from Earthto the Sun. b. The blocking of light energy byEarth. c. The transferring of thermal energy fromthe Sun to Earth. d. The absorption of thermalenergy by the ozone layer.

Answer»

a. When theSun's energymoves through space, it reachesEarth's atmosphereand finally the surface. This radiantsolar energywarms theatmosphereand becomesheat energy. Thisheat energy is transferredthroughout the planet's systems in three ways: by radiation, conduction, and convection.

b. Of the energy that strikes the ground, about 3% is reflected back into the atmosphere. The rest warms the soil, rock or water that it reaches. Some of the absorbed energy radiates back into the air as heat. These infrared wavelengths can only be seen by infrared sensors.

d. In addition, the absorption of UV-B radiation by ozone is a natural source of heat in the stratosphere, causing temperatures to increase with altitude. Stratospheric temperatures affect the balance of ozone production and destruction processes and air motions that redistribute ozone throughout the stratosphere
