What is the resistance of an electric are lamp when hot, if the lamp uses 20A when connected to a 220V line?

Answer»

ANSWER:

Given,

CURRENT (I) = 20A

Voltage (V) = 220V

By APPLYING, R = V/I

= 220/20

= 11ohm.

2.

A PUMP IS USED TO LIFT 150 of water from a well 50 m deep, in 25 s. If force of gravity on 1 kg is 10 N, find: WORK DONE

Answer»

Answer:

Given,

Mass = 150KG

Height = 50m

Time = 25sec

Force = 1kg = 10N, 150kg = 1500N

To find:-

WORK done

By APPLYING, F = ma

a = f/m

= 1500/150

= 10m/s^2

By applying, P. E = MGH

= 150×10×50

= 75000J.

what is change in momentum of a car weighting 1500 kg when its speed increases from 36 kg/hr to 72 km/hr uniformly ?

Answer»

Answer:

15000kgm/s

Explanation:

V FINAL= 72 km/hr = 72×5/18= 20 m/s

V initial= 36 km/hr = 10 m/s

∆p= m(V final - V initial)

∆p= 1500(20-10)

∆p= 1500×10

∆p= 15000 kgm/s

Please help in Calculating Acceleration if the car starts from rest and gains a Velocity of 5 m/s in 2 s. Don't forget to find Distance Travelled

Answer»

<U>Given :

  • Initial velocity (u) = 0
  • Final velocity (v) = 5m/s
  • Time (t) = 2S

To find :

  • Acceleration (a)
  • Distance (s)

Solution :

According to the first EQUATION of MOTION

\bigstar{\large{\boxed{\bf{\red{v=u+at}}}}} \\ \\ \implies\large\tt 5=0+a\times{2} \\ \\ \\ \implies\large\tt 5=2a \\ \\ \\ \implies\large\tt a=\cancel\dfrac{5}{2} \\ \\ \\ \implies\large\tt a=2.5m/s^2

Hence,

  • Acceleration of car is 2.5m/s²

\rule{200}3

Now, according to the second equation of motion

\bigstar{\large{\boxed{\bf{\red{s=ut+\dfrac{1}{2}at^2}}}}} \\ \\ \implies\large\tt s=0\times{2}+\dfrac{1}{2}\times{2.5}\times{(2)^2} \\ \\ \\ \implies\large\tt s=0+\dfrac{1}{2}\times{2.5}\times{4} \\ \\ \\ \implies\large\tt s=2.5\times{2} \\ \\ \\ \implies\large\tt s=5m

Hence,

  • Distance covered by a car is 5m

\rule{200}3

II Short Answer Questions1 What is meant by quantisation ofcharges?2. Write down Coulomb's law in vectorform and mention what each termrepresents.3. What are the differences betweenCoulomb forceforce andand gravitationalforce?TATritashort notesunernosition

Answer»

➠ AnSwer :-

  1. Quantization of charge implies that charge can ASSUME only certain discrete values. That is to say the observed VALUE of electric charge (q) of a particle will be integral multiples of (e)
  2. According to Coulomb's law, the force of attraction or repulsion between TWO charged bodies is directly proportional to the product of their charges and INVERSELY proportional to the square of the distance between them. It acts along the line joining the two charges considered to be point charges.
  3. Gravitational force is proportional to the masses of interacting objects, and the electrostatic force is proportional to the magnitudes of the charges of interacting objects. Hence both forces are proportional to a property that represents the strength of interaction for a GIVEN field.

State the functions of live wires

Answer»

Answer:

The LIVE wire carries the CURRENT to the appliance, while the neutral wire carries it back. The earth wire is for our protection, in case the live wire makes a contact with metal casing of an appliance. When this happens, the current will pass to the earth INSTEAD of our BODY, thus saving us.

The strength of an electromagnet can be easily changed the option 1 amount of current in coil 2.direction or number current in coil

Answer»

Answer:

1. increasing current in coil

The strength of an ELECTROMAGNET can be increased by increasing the number of LOOPS of wire around the IRON core and by increasing the current or voltage

2.

Case (a) current becomes twice:

When a current carrying coil is moved closer to the magnet it will generate electricity as the coil moves through the magnetic field. As the current carrying coil is moved, there will be an INDUCED electro-motive force (EMF) which can cause a current in the coil. Once the coil stops moving, the current will go to zero. Hence, when a galvanometer is connected to the circuit, there will be deflection due to the flow of electricity. As the coil is moved towards the magnet, the needle of the galvanometer moves one direction. As the coil is moved away from the magnet, the needle of the galvanometer moves the opposite direction. If the coil is moved faster, the magnitude of the deflection INCREASES. Also, in a condition when the number of turns in the coil is doubled the current through the coil is also doubled because the amount of current flowing through the coil is directly proportional the number of turns in the coil.

Case (b) current becomes thrice:

When a current carrying coil is moved closer to the magnet it will generate electricity as the coil moves through the magnetic field. As the coil is moved, there will be an induced electro-motive force (EMF) which can cause a current in the coil.

Thus, the current is increased three times when the magnet is moved three faster towards the coil because the magnitude of deflection is directly proportional to speed of magnet's motion
