Please answer the below question on conservation of momentum (show full working)

Answer»

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Required Answer:

✒ GiveN:

  • Mass of the moving RAILROAD = 12000 kg
  • Initially, it's velocity = 2 m/s
  • Mass of railroad at rest = 10000 kg
  • They collide and locked up

✒ To finD:

  • Final speed of the system of railroad cars....?

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

How to solve?

LET's first know about law of conservation of momentum for colliding bodies:

  • The law of conservation of momentum is commonly used when we need to find the velocities of objects that undergone some form of collision.
  • The law of conservation of momentum states that the momentum of a system is conserved or remains CONSTANT as long as there are no external UNBALANCED forces acting on the system of bodies.

It is given by,

  • m1u1 + m2u2 = m1v1 + m2v2

Where,

  • m1 and m2 are the masses of bodies.
  • u1 and u2 are initial velocities
  • And, v1 and V2 are final velocities.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Solution:

We have,

  • m1 = 12000 kg
  • m2 = 10000 kg
  • u1 = 2 m/s
  • u2 = 0 m/s (at rest)
  • Final masses will be their sum

So, By using formula,

➝ m1u1 + m2u2 = (m1 + m2)v

➝ 12000 × 2 + 10000 × 0 = (12000 + 10000)v

➝ 24000 = 22000v

Flipping it,

➝ 22000v = 24000

➝ v = 24000 / 22000

➝ v = 12 / 11 m/s

➝ v = 1.1 m/s (approx.)

Final velocity of the system = 1.1 m/s

Hence, solved !!

2.

When a resistor of 2 ohm stretched to double the original length new resistance

Answer»

Answer:

Lets read the statement.

When a resistor of 2Ω is stretched... So we aren't GIVEN any new wire... We stretched the wire.

Lets assume the original length as x.

After stretching the wire, let the length be 2×x.

If length is 2x, then Cross-sectional area=1/2 (Simple equation: If length INCREASES, area decreases. Or, in other words, l∝1/A)

Now, resistance= 2Ω.

Resistance of unstretched wire of the unstretched wire (Original resistance):

R=\frac{\rho*L}{A}

Now, we derived that l=2x and a=1/2 for the new wire. SUBSTITUTE these values in the above equation.

Resistance of new wire:

R_{new} =\frac{\rho*2l}{\frac{A}{2} }

The 2 below A will GO to the numerator.

Further simplifying:

R_{new} =\frac{\rho*2*2l}{A}

R_{new} =\frac{\rho*4l}{A }

R_{new} =4(\frac{\rho*l}{A })

We know that \frac{\rho*L}{A}=R. Substitute this in the above equation.

R_{new} =4(R)

Thus, from the above derivation, we conclude that

New resistance= 4×(Original resistance)

Now, original resistance is 2Ω.

New resistance=4×2

New resistance=8Ω.

TIP: Dont memorise, understand.

HOPE THIS HELPS :D

A brake applied to a train moving at 90 km/hr produces the retardation of 5m/s².What distance will it cover before coming to a stop.

Answer»

Answer:

The train will cover 62.5m before it comes to a stop

Explanation:

Using the equation v^2 = U^2 + 2as

we can say u(INITIAL velocity) = 90kmph = 25 m/s

and final velocity v is 0 since the train comes to a stop

Acceleration = -5m/s (retardation)

Plugging the VALUES in, we get

0^2 = 25^2 + 2(-5)(s)

-25 x 25 = -10s

s = 625/10= 62.5 m

The first advantage to bus topology is that it is easy to connect a computer or

Answer»

Answer:

So here is your answer

Explanation:

A bus topology consists of a single cable with the terminator at each end. All present nodes are connected to the single cable. There is no limit to the no: of nodes that can be attached to this network, but the no: of connected nodes can actually affect the performance of the network.

In a bus topology, one of the nodes acts as the server and transmits the data from one end to the other in a single direction. When the data reaches the extreme end, the terminator removes the data from the line.

In a bus topology, one main cable acts as the backbone for the ENTIRE network. The bus topology carries the transmitted data along the cable. As the data reaches each node, the node checks the destination address (MAC/IP address) to see if it matches their address. If the address doesn’t match, the node does nothing more. But if the node addresses match to the address contained in the data then they process on the information.

The Backbone cable in the bus topology depends on the TYPE of network card used in each computer, an RJ-45 network cable or coaxial cable is used to connect them together.

The FOLLOWING sections contain both the advantages and disadvantages of using a bus topology in a network.

Characteristics of Bus Topology :-

  • Flexible
  • Expandable
  • Moderate Reliability
  • Moderate performance

Advantages of Bus Topology :-

  1. Easy to connect or remove devices in a network without affecting any other device.
  2. In case of any computer or device failure, there will be no effect on other devices or network.
  3. Cable cost is LESS as compared to other network topology i.e. mesh and star.
  4. It is easy to UNDERSTAND topology.
  5. Easy to expand by joining two cables together

A space probe built on earth has a mass of 750 kg calculate the weight of the space probe on earth

Answer»

Given:

A space probe built on earth has a mass of 750 kg.

To find:

Weight of the space probe

Calculation:

Mass of any object refers to the space occupied by that object. It is a scalar quantity.

Weight of any object is actually a vector and is REPRESENTED by the product of mass and the GRAVITATIONAL ACCELERATION ACTING at that point on the Earth surface.

\sf{weight = mass \times g }

=  > \sf{weight = 750 \times g }

=  > \sf{weight = 750 \times 10}

A ball is thrown vertically upwards. Its distance s from a fixed pointvaries with time t according to the following graph. Calculate velocityof projection of the ball.(A) 10 m/s(B) 20 m/s(C) 30 m/s(D) 50 m/s

Answer»

Answer:

The correct answer is A

10 m/s

Explanation:

v2=u2−2gh

As we know that velocity is the total DISTANCE covered in a certain PERIOD of time. v= d/t

where 'd' is distance and 't' is the time period.

so applying this formula:

As we know that after REACHING maximum height, the velocity of the ball BECOMES zero.

Here is the solution:

0=(10)2−2×10×h2

∴h=20020=10m/s

What is the solid angle subtented by the moon at any point of the earth, given the diameter of the moon is 3474 km and it's distance from the earth 3.84×10^8 m

Answer»

Answer:

Diameter of moon = 3474 KM.

Therefore, radius is 1737 km. The area will be,

A_m = X pi r^2 = (3.14)(1737)^2 = 9.473 x times 10^6 m^2

The distance from the Earth is given as,

= 3.84 x 10^8 m

Squaring this VALUE,

r^2 = (3.84 x 10^8)^2 = 14.74 x10^{16} \ m^2

Now the solid ANGLE in steradians is,

And that should be the answer.
