Nationalism was the result of the emergence of nations and nation state in Europe.

Answer»

The idea of nationalism SPREAD across other Europeans countries. Nationalism came to be seen in a liberal light. Meaning, the middle class came to hate the aristocracy and absolute monarchies and wanted a popularly elected government in power.

In the economic sphere, they wanted a free market with no government interference with heavy customs duties. Earlier, there was a scattered group of states but now, they popularly wanted a common economic zone.

Return to Conservative Nationalism

After the death of Napoleon, nationalism came to be attached to more conservative ideas. The rulers of nations like Russia, Belgium, Austria and France used modernisation to return to conservative rule. Highly strict laws, a strong army and bureaucracy, etc. would now set up authoritarian regimes.

Unification by Revolutionaries

As a reaction to the autocratic conservatives, there grew a huge force of revolutionaries who STILL lived with the spirit of liberalism. They CREATED underground societies and clubs and wanted a revolution to unite provinces into democratic nation states. This, along with romanticism and economic hardship created the perfect background for the unification of states and Germany, Italy, Greece and several other European ultimately became nation-states.

Indian history sources detaile

Answer»

There are many sources of ancient indian history. The most important one's are the following in no particular order:

Literature:Both indian and foreign literature. For example, Puranas, especially Bhavisya Puran gives an idea of early indian kingdoms though it isnot that accurate. Arthshastra written by Chanakya throws light on administrative aspects of Mauryan Empire. There are SEVERAL other literature that have historical value. But reliability of literature sources is questionable. As theydon't always portray the true picture.

Coins:coins tells a lotabout the financial position of the KING and the region. Discovery of large number of gold coins of Gupta period led tobelief that it was quite a prosperous period in indian history. Whereas, lessnumber of gold coins denote that the periodwas less prosperous .

Travellers ACCOUNTS- A great deal of knowledge about the time and reign of Harshvardhan has been gained from Chinese traveller Hiuen tsang’s account. The first mention of world famous Kumbha Mela is found in his accounts. Similarly FA hien visited during Gupta period and wrote about the same. Excavation- INDUS valley civilization wasdiscovered through massive excavation. Several artefacts, coins and other itemsof archaeological value are discovered in excavation that unleash information about that era.

Archaeological Evidences- such as artefacts, rock inscriptions, pillar inscriptions. During the time period from 1830 to 1848 many revolutions took place because since the conservative reation after 1815 many MONARCHICAL and despotic regimes were re-established all over Europe. However, the ideals of nationalism, republicanism and liberalism had already been INSTILLED in the people of Europe.
