More information about gandhra style sculptures on stupa at hadda |
Answer» Answer: EXPLANATION: Gandhara art, STYLE of Buddhist visual art that developed in what is now northwestern Pakistan and eastern Afghanistan between the 1st century BCE and the 7th century CE. The style, of Greco-Roman origin, seems to have flourished largely during the Kushan dynasty and was contemporaneous with an important but dissimilar school of Kushan art at Mathura (Uttar PRADESH, India). Gandhra's role in the evolution of the Buddha image has been a point of considerable disagreement among SCHOLARS. It now seems clear that the schools of Gandhara and Mathura each independently evolved its own characteristic depiction of the Buddha about the 1st century CE. The Gandhara school drew upon the anthropomorphic traditions of Roman religion and represented the Buddha with a youthful Apollo-like face, dressed in garments resembling those seen on Roman imperial statues. The Gandhara depiction of the seated Buddha was less successful. The schools of Gandhara and Mathura influenced each other, and the GENERAL trend was away from a naturalistic conception and toward a more idealized, abstract image. The Gandhara craftsmen made a lasting contribution to Buddhist art in their composition of the events of the Buddha’s life into set scenes. The materials used for Gandhara sculpture were green phyllite and gray-blue mica schist which in general, belong to an earlier phase, and stucco, which was used increasingly after the 3rd century CE. The sculptures were originally painted and gilded.

विद्यार्थी और फ़ैशन......write an essay in 80 words. |

Who had the most successful economy from all the Mughal emperors? I need a long answer, which would be evidential and factual. |
Answer» Answer: The economic history of India begins with the Indus Valley Civilization (3300–1300 BCE), whose economy appears to have depended significantly on trade and examples of overseas trade, notable being Indus-Mesopotamia relations. The Vedic period saw countable units of precious metal being used for exchange. The term Nishka appears in this sense in the Rigveda.[1] Around 600 BCE, the Mahajanapadas minted punch-marked silver coins. The period was marked by intensive trade activity and URBAN development. By 300 BCE, the Maurya Empire had united most of the Indian subcontinent. The resulting political unity and military security allowed for a common economic system and enhanced trade and commerce, with increased agricultural productivity. The Maurya Empire was followed by classical and early medieval kingdoms, including the Cholas, Guptas, Western Gangas, Harsha, Palas, Rashtrakutas and Hoysalas. During this period, Between 1 CE and 1000 CE, the Indian subcontinent is estimated to have accounted for one-third, to one-fourth of the WORLD's population, and product, though GDP per capita was stagnant. According to the Balance of Economic Power, India had the largest economy for most of the interval between the 1st century and 18th century, the most of any region for a large part of the last two millennia.[2] Up until 1000 CE, India had a large share of the world population, but its GDP per capita was not much higher than subsistence level.[3] India experienced per-capita GDP growth in the high medieval era after 1000 CE, during the Delhi Sultanate in the NORTH and Vijayanagara Empire in the south, but was not as productive as Ming China until the 16th century. By the late 17th century, most of the Indian subcontinent had been reunited under the Mughal Empire, which became the largest economy and manufacturing power in the world, producing about a quarter of global GDP, before fragmenting and being conquered over the next century.[4][5] During the Mughal Empire, India was the world leader in manufacturing, producing 25% of the world's industrial output up until the mid-18th century, prior to British rule.[6][7] Mughal Bengal, the empire's wealthiest province, that solely accounted for 40% of Dutch imports outside the west,[8] was a world leader in the productive agriculture, textile manufacturing and shipbuilding, and as its result, the proto-industrialization was emerged.[9][10][11] After the decline of the Mughal Empire, Mysoreans embarked on an ambitious economic development program that established the Kingdom of Mysore as a MAJOR economic power, with some of the world's highest real wages and living standards in the late 18th century.[12] During this period, Mysore overtook the wealthy Bengal Subah as India's dominant economic power, with highly productive agriculture and textile manufacturing.[13] Mysore's average income was five times higher than subsistence level at the time.[14] The Maratha Empire also MANAGED an effective administration and tax collection policy throughout the core areas under their control and extracted chauth from vassal states.[15] India experienced deindustrialisation and cessation of various craft industries under British rule,[6] which along with fast economic and population growth in the Western World resulted in India's share of the world economy declining from 24.4% in 1700 to 4.2% in 1950,[16] and its share of global industrial output declining from 25% in 1750 to 2% in 1900.[6] Due to its ancient history as a trading zone and later its colonial status, colonial India remained economically integrated with the world, with high levels of trade, investment and migration.[17] The Republic of India, founded in 1947, adopted central planning for most of its independent history, with extensive public ownership, regulation, red tape and trade barriers.[18][19] After the 1991 economic crisis, the central government launched economic liberalisation, allowing it to emerge as one of the world's fastest growing large economies.[18][20] |

What was hindu urdu controversy |
Answer» Answer: Explanation: The Hindi–Urdu controversy arose in 19th century colonial India out of the debate over whether the Hindi or Urdu languages should be chosen as a national language. Hindi and Urdu are generally understood in linguistic terms as two forms or dialects of a single language, Hindustani (or Hindi-Urdu), that are written in two different scripts: Devanagari (for Hindi) and a modified Perso-Arabic script (for Urdu). Both Modern Standard Hindi and Modern Standard Urdu are literary forms of the Dehlavi dialect of Hindustani.[1] A Persianized variant of Hindustani began to take shape during the Delhi Sultanate (1206–1526 AD) and Mughal Empire (1526–1858 AD) in South Asia.[1] Known as Dakkani in southern India, and by names such as Hindi, Hindavi, and Hindustani in northern India and elsewhere, it emerged as a lingua franca across much of India and was written in several scripts including Perso-Arabic, Devanagari, Kaithi, and Gurmukhi.[2] The Perso-Arabic script FORM of this language underwent a standardization process and further Persianization in the late Mughal period (18TH century) and came to be known as Urdu, a name derived from the Turkic word ordu (army) or ORDA and is said to have arisen as the "language of the camp", or "Zaban-i-Ordu", or in the local "Lashkari Zaban".[3] As a literary language, Urdu TOOK shape in courtly, elite settings. Along with English, it became the first official language of British India in 1850.[4][5] Hindi as a standardized literary register of the Delhi dialect arose later; the Braj dialect was the dominant literary language in the Devanagari script up until and through the nineteenth century. Efforts to promote a Devanagari version of the Delhi dialect under the name of Hindi gained pace around 1880 as an effort to DISPLACE Urdu's official position. The last few decades of the nineteenth century witnessed the eruption of the Hindi–Urdu controversy in the United Provinces (present-day Uttar Pradesh, then known as "the North-Western Provinces and Oudh"). The controversy comprised "Hindi" and "Urdu" protagonists each advocating the official use of Hindustani with the Devanagari script or with the Nastaʿlīq script, respectively. Hindi movements advocating the growth of and official status for Devanagari were established in Northern India. Babu Shiva Prasad and Madan Mohan Malaviya were notable early proponents of this movement. This, consequently, led to the development of Urdu movements defending Urdu's official status; Syed Ahmed Khan was one of its noted advocates. |
