Without oil the modern world could not exist. Oil is needed for travel, becauseit powers our motor cars, buses, trains, aeroplanes and ships. Oil helpsmachines of all kinds, to run easily. Oil also gives us other substances, such asartificial rubber, artificial materials for clothing, and new materials for makingthings. Yet till a hundred years ago no one used oil for any of these purposes. In fact, no one knew that much oil existed.Men do not make oil; they find it. They look for oil in many ways. They beginby making a map of the land where they are searching. Then they use the map to help them in choosing a site to explore with more care. They start their work by examining the rock from under the surface and come to know whether oil islikely to be underneath the rock.To find out how deeply the oil is buried they need to know how far under thesurface the rock is. If everything seems hopeful the men decide to drill downthrough the rock. In this way they find out whether oil really does lieunderneath it. Often this test – well, as it is called, is far away from any townand there is much work to do before any drilling starts. Houses and roads mustbe built for the people coming to drill the test – well. Then the big derrick thatcarries the drill must be put up. This derrick is a strong framework of steelabout 45 meters high. The drill is raised and lowered from inside the derrick.Drilling for oil often means making a well that goes very deep into the earth.Such deep wells have never been made until modern times. The rate of drillingdepends upon the kind of rock being drilled: it can be as fast as 60 meters anhour. Drilling is usually done on dry land, but we can also drill the rock underlakes or seas by putting the derrick on a special platform above the water.1. How is oil useful to machines?2. Essay "environmental protection "

Answer»

Answer:

The environment is defined as the surroundings of a physical system that may interact with other systems by exchanging mass and ENERGY. All the living beings and the non-living things fall under natural environment. The environment is the surrounding that we live in, and so it is our responsibility to PROTECT it from any destruction. Environmental pollution is one of the greatest problems that human society is facing today. Air, water, and SOIL form the three basic areas of environmental pollution.

When there is an undesirable change in the surrounding that has harmful effects on plants and animals, it leads to environmental pollution. A pollutant is a substance that causes pollution. We can have pollutants in liquid, solid or gaseous form. A substance becomes a pollutant when its concentration is greater than the natural abundance and this increase in concentration is either due to human activities or natural phenomenon. There are pollutants which can be degraded and rapidly broken down by natural processes similar to the degradation of vegetables. We also have pollutants which take decades to degrade, once released cannot be EASILY removed. For example, DDT, plastic materials, heavy metals and nuclear waste.

Essay on how you can make your country strong

Answer»

<STRONG>Answer:

prosperous nation:

There seems to be four major factors in what MAKES a nation powerful.

Education.

Health.

Defence.

Economy.

If you miss any of these four - then problems such as the USSR’s collapse , which had economic problems as a major factor, will occur.

For countries with low education, and therefore low technology - they generally get colonised.

Generally, that lack of education turns into a lack of military technology and health technology as the years progresses. Its why the British could have guns whereas many natives could not make their own guns.

Finally, unskilled people generally END up doing low-skilled jobs, which doesn’t really benefit the economy as much as other, more lucrative exports such as technology.

Thus - keep education a priority.

For weak countries, collapses such as Iraq due to being run over by their enemies, happen.

Thus, in order to not get invaded, you need allies that help you, and your own domestic military which is capable of efficiently carrying out its role better than those who threaten you.

But you MUST also keep a strong domestic defence, like Police. Keeping order at home helps prevent stuff such as domestic terrorism, along with riots and other security problems.

Thus - keep your defenses a priority.

For poor economies - this should be self-explanatory, but your entire country suffers.

This is worse if your country gives exports that aren’t high value by themselves, such as food products. Notice how most of the big countries have a high-tech product being sold, such as cars in europe.

And those that don’t, such as India and Canada, sell the extremely needed good called Oil.

Bad economy turns to bad education and then bad health which leads to bad military which leads to a failed state.

Thus - keep your economy working well.

For health, generally poor economy means poor health.

However - for countries with very poor health, it is difficult to get lots of people that are in healthy shape, and are of a high education.

That’s why unhealthy countries, such as Somalia, also find it hard to recover. For each person who is able to work and innovate in order to solve their problems, there are also others who are starving and unable to learn, or work well.

Thus - keep health a priority.

So how should this be juggled?

Well, if its deficient, then work on it.

Unhealthy population? Focus on health programmes

Weak military, and police? Remove CORRUPTION, focus on reforming the defenses of your country.

Bad economy? Work out the best strategies to take advantage of the markets.

Poor education? Have more funds allocated towards schooling young children, and getting older people into tertiary education so they are skilled workers.

Get all four - health, defense, education, and economy going well, and your country will become strong.

The hard part is actually doing it.
