What is biomass? Explain the principal and working? |
Answer» Answer Biomass is biological material obtained from LIVING or recently living organisms that can be processed into electricity, fuel and heat. Biomass has been used for thousands of years and there are many forms available which are used in a number of ways. For example, in a wood fire the wood that is burning is a biomass fuel. Biomass is also used in building materials, composting and as in Drax’s case in the electricity industry. The materials that Drax use include sustainable wood-based products, forestry residues and residual agricultural products, such as sunflower seed husks and peanut husks. Principle: BIOGAS is produced as a result of ANAEROBIC fermentation of biomass in the presence of water. Construction Back to Top The biogas plant is a brick and cement structure having the following five sections: Mixing tank present above the ground level. Inlet chamber: The mixing tank opens underground into a sloping inlet chamber. Digester: The inlet chamber opens from below into the digester which is a huge tank with a dome like ceiling. The ceiling of the digester has an outlet with a valve for the supply of biogas. Outlet chamber: The digester opens from below into an outlet chamber. Overflow tank: The outlet chamber opens from the top into a SMALL over flow tank. Fixed Dome type Biogas Plant Working Back to Top The various forms of biomass are mixed with an equal quantity of water in the mixing tank. This forms the slurry. The slurry is fed into the digester through the inlet chamber. When the digester is partially filled with the slurry, the introduction of slurry is stopped and the plant is left unused for about two months. During these two months, anaerobic bacteria present in the slurry decomposes or ferments the biomass in the presence of water. As a result of anaerobic fermentation, biogas is formed, which starts collecting in the dome of the digester. As more and more biogas starts collecting, the pressure EXERTED by the biogas forces the spent slurry into the outlet chamber. From the outlet chamber, the spent slurry overflows into the overflow tank. The spent slurry is manually removed from the overflow tank and used as manure for plants. The gas valve connected to a system of pipelines is opened when a supply of biogas is required. To obtain a continuous supply of biogas, a functioning plant can be fed continuously with the prepared slurry.Read more on Sarthaks.com - https://www.sarthaks.com/4000/what-biomass-explain-principle-and-working-biogas-plant-using-labelled-schematic-diagram please mark as brainliest, |

A compound contains 4.07% hydrogen,24.27% carbon and 71.65% chlorine. Itsmolar mass is 98.96 g. What are itsempirical and molecular formulas? |
Answer» Hi there, ◇ Given ● H percentage is 4.07 ● H atomic mass is 1 ● C percentage is 24.27 ● C atomic mass is 12 ● Cl percentage is 71.65 ● Cl atomic mass is 35.5 ◇ Empirical formula calculation 1- FIND MOLES of each element by dividing percentage over atomic mass so, n(H) = 4.07÷1 = 4.07 MOL n(C) = 24.27÷ 12 = 2.02 n(Cl) = 71.65 ÷ 35.5 = 2.02 2- Find mol ratio by dividing over the lowest value H ratio 2 C ratio 1 Cl ratio 1 So, ☆ The empirical formula is 《 CH2Cl》 ◇ Molecular formula calculation Find the molar mass of empirical 12 + 2 + 35.5 = 49.5 The molar mass of moleculare is 98.96 So the coefficent 98.96 ÷ 49.5 = 2 So, the moleculare formula is 《 C2H4Cl2 》 ♡ Hope the answer is helpful ♡ Plz mark it as brainliest |

| 19. |
Which has higher discharge potential (cr2o7)2- or (oh)- |
Answer» Explanation: The process of chemical decomposition of the electrolyte by the passage of electricity through its molten or dissolved state is termed as electrolysis. It is the chemical change (Redox reaction occurring at electrode on passing current). The device in which this process is CARRIED out is called electrolytic cell. In this process first of all electrolyte is ionised. The cations deposit on cathode where reduction takes place. The anions deposit on anode where oxidation takes place. The conversion of ions in the neutral particles at the RESPECTIVE electrodes is referred to as primary change. The PRODUCT obtained on primary change may be collected as such or may undergo secondary change to form FINAL products. The REACTIONS taking place in these changes are called electrochemical reactions. |

Two uses of tincture of iodine |
Answer» ANSWER:- 1. Wound Disinfectant - People began using tincture of iodine as a wound disinfectant in the late 1800s. Although not as popular TODAY, it is still in USE as an antiseptic to prevent infection in minor cuts, scrapes and burns. Tincture of iodine is suitable for topical use only and can be irritating to your skin. You should not use tincture of iodine on open wounds or if you are allergic to seafood. 2. Diagnostics - Your thyroid gland requires iodine to function correctly. If you or your doctor suspect iodine deficiency is causing your thyroid to function incorrectly, you can use tincture of iodine to perform a diagnostic test. To perform this test, you apply tincture of iodine to your skin in a three-inch patch and monitor the spot for 24 hours. Watch to see how long it takes the brown iodine stain on your skin to disappear and when it does, reapply the tincture of iodine. If you have adequate iodine in your system, you will not need to reapply tincture of iodine at all. If the stain disappears and you must reapply within the 24-hour monitoring period, the more often you do, the more your body is iodine DEFICIENT. |

How do you balance a chemical equation using simple method with example |
Answer» Answer: First, write down the equation and OBSERVE it (I'll take an easy example to understand): H2 + O2 --> H2O Then, write down the number of molecules of the L.H.S. and R.H.S. separately L.H.S. R.H.S. H = 2 H = 2 O = 2 O = 1 As you can see, the number of molecules are not equal on the both sides of the equation. So, we MULTIPLY the molecules on either SIDE to make their numbers equal. L.H.S. R.H.S. H = 2 x 2 = 4 H = 2 x 2 =4 O = 2 O = 1 x 2 = 2 Notice that if the MOLECULE is in a compound, you have to multiply all the molecules of that compound with the same number. If there are, sometimes, two molecules of the same element, one in a compound and other one distinct as alone. For ex sometimes you will see hydrogen both in a compound and as an element alone on one side of the equation. To solve this, take the sum of number of molecules present in the elements/compounds and multiply accordingly. (NOTE: If you multiply the element molecule, it is not NECESSARY that the molecules of that in with the compound form should be multiplied) Hope I helped |
