How can you find an element group no. And period no. |
Answer» HEY MATE,HERE IS YOUR ANSWER...................We already know that all the elements in periodic table are arranged serially according to their atomic numbers. There are 18 groups and 7 periods. The elements are arranged in such a WAY that the elements get categorized according to their properties. Here we will work with only basic 8 groups (I A,II A,III A,IV A,V A,VI A,VII A and 0) .In the periodic table the first group (except Hydrogen) consists of strong Alkali Metals, the second group consists of Alkaline Earth Metals. The right of the periodic table consists of the non-metallic elements including noble gas and metalloid. The VII A group is also known as the Halogen Family and its elements are known as halogens. All Noble Gases are in the group 0. All these elements are collectively known as Normal Representative Element. We have to keep certain things in mind (Not applicable for transition groups and its elements)1. The period of element relates the number of shells of an atom of the given element.2. The group is similar to the no of valence electrons of given element.3. The valency is the no of electrons it accepts or donates. So in case of non-metals valency = 8-valence electrons & in case of metals valency=valence electrons... This is B’COZ non-metals accept so lacked electrons only considered4. The number of element in each period is calculated by 2n2.=> Steps to find the position of an non-transitional element in periodic1. First take the Atomic number of the given element. Say Cl... Atomic no.2. Then calculate the electronic configuration using the atomic number 2+8+7=17 therefore the electronic configuration will be 2, 8, 7.3. Here we find that the no of valence electrons of element is 7 as the valence shell has 7 electrons.4. So know we easily understand that the group is 7 because the no of valence electrons is 7.5. Now to find the period we have to understand that the period is the number of shell the element is having therefore here chlorine has 3 shells (K-2, L-8, and M-7). So the period of the given element is 3.Thus the position of the given element (here chlorine) is …..Group VII A (17th)=>B’COZ VALENCE ELECTRONS = 7Period 3rd=>B’COZ NO OF SHELLS = 3NB: Valency 8 refers to the group 0 and the element must be a Noble Gas.Like this we can find the position of any non-transitional element. Now to find the Properties we have to see that where the element is located at the periodic table. We have already found it. So now LET us see in which group it is at. Here chlorine is taken as example so chlorine is located at VII A group. Now as it is in VII A group we can understand that it’s a non-metal. It can also be concluded that the element belongs to Halogen Family and is a halogen. From here also we could see valency=8-7=1(chlorine is a non-metal, it can accept only one electron). Thus all basic properties are found. Therefore, we can find the position of an element in periodic table and also the properties like this. The only thing we have to MEMORIZE is the Atomic number.HOPE IT HELPS YOU........&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&THANKS ...MARK IT BRAINLIEST PLZ IF IT HELPS YOU... |

List the features of valence shell pair theory |
Answer» VSEPR THEORY is based on observable electron density rather than mathematical wave functions and hence unrelated to orbital hybridisation, although both address MOLECULAR shape. While it is mainly QUALITATIVE, VSEPR has a quantitative basis in quantum chemical topology (QCT) methods such as the electron LOCALIZATION function (ELF) and the quantum theory of atoms in molecules |

Formation of clouds is a physical change. Justify. |
Answer» ☢Clouds are formed after the water when earth EVAPORATES, goes up in the sky and condenses. ☢Again the cloud changes to water and FALL on earth in the form of RAIN DUE to the process of precipitation. ☢This is a cyclic process, and it will be continues. ☢Therefore, the formation of clouds is a physical change. |

E) determine the expected cell potential of the cobalt-silver cell? |
Answer» Consider a COBALT-silver voltaic cell that is constructed such that one half-cell consists of the cobalt, Co, electrode immersed in a Co(NO3)3 solution, and the other half-cell consists of the silver, Ag, electrode immersed in a AgNO3 solution. The two electrodes are connected by a COPPER wire. The Co electrode acts as the anode, and the Ag electrode acts as the cathode. To maintain electric neutrality, you add a KNO3 salt bridge separating the two half-cells. Use this information to SOLVE Parts B, C, and D. A. The half-cell is a CHAMBER in the voltaic cell where one half-cell is the site of the oxidation reaction and the other half-cell is the site of the reduction reaction. Type the half-cell reaction that takes PLACE at the anode for the cobalt-silver voltaic cell. Indicate the physical states using the abbreviation (s), (l), or (g) for solid, liquid, or gas, respectively. Use (aq) for an aqueous solution. Do not forget to add electrons in your reaction. B. The half-cell is a chamber in the voltaic cell where one half-cell is the site of an oxidation reaction and the other half-cell is the site of a reduction reaction. Why more heat is required in constant pressure as compared to constant volume? |
Answer» HENCE more amount of energy has to be supplied to a constant pressure process to INCREASE the SYSTEM's temperature by the same amount, because some of this energy is lost due to expansion work done by the system. Hence the specific heat at constant pressure always EXCEEDS the specific heat at constant volume |

If a molecule AB3 has zero dipole moment, the sigma bonding orbitals used by A are pure p or hybrids? |
Answer» the p orbital used up here are not pure but HYBRID as during hybridization a trigonal planer geometry is obtained . in this geometry the DIPOLE moment is ZERO if the compound AB3 is formed by the pure p orbital overlap then the angle between 3 ligand will be 90 degree and structure formed WOULD have some non zero dipole moment . |

One mole of Chlorine combines with certain weight of a metal giving 111g of its chloride. the same amount of metal can displace 2g of hydrogen from an acid. what is the atomic weight of the metal? |
Answer» Answers : (1) let metal be x Cl2 + x = N* xCl ( n moles) 1 mole = 71g 111g 91 cl = 35.5g) see that as it replaces 2g H = replacing 2 moles of H or 2+ charge thus metal has 2+ charge as Ca, Mg etc or 2 moles of metal like Na, K etc..... as Cl ha 1- charge so its two moles are used in the metal CHLORIDE as: XCl2 type ( for Ca type metals ) or (but here it is this type - a quite logic) 2XCl type (for Na type) so weight of chloride = 111= 2* 35.5 + x so x=40 here see that Ca and K has this much MASS bt K has 1 charge so should hv used its two moles thus finally use weight would be 80g bt used is 40 g. so metal is Ca and its mass is 40 g |
