Difference between male and female wuchereria bancrofti |
Answer» ss the significance of lymphatic filariasis for the development of chronic genital manifestations and for reproductive health in women, we conducted a cross-sectional study of 2 villages in north-eastern Tanzania including interview and gynaecological examination of adult women, focusing primarily on reproductive history and genital health. In a population of 2165 RESIDENTS, prevalence of Wuchereria bancrofti microfilaraemia was 28%, and geometric mean intensity of microfilariae (mf) was 722 mf/mL. Leg lymphoedema (elephantiasis) was present in 4.2% of adults aged > or = 15 years, and hydrocoele in 26.5% of adult males. Five hundred and thirty women completed an interview, and 404 of these completed a gynaecological examination. Most women were Muslims (72%), polygamy was common (29%), and 49% of women had undergone circumcision (clitoridectomy). Presence of microfilaraemia did not influence fertility or fertility-related variables including age at menarche, parity, spontaneous abortion, stillbirth, Caesarean section and premature labour, nor presence of primary or secondary infertility. Mf status was strongly CORRELATED with abnormal menstruation pattern in the 30+ years age-group (P = 0.001), but not in the < 30 years age-group. Cervical, vaginal and vulval pathology was unrelated to mf status. Two women, aged 46 and 77 years, had vulval oedema of probable filarial ORIGIN, both were mf negative. Overall, microfilaraemia appeared to have no influence on genital disease or reproductive health, and chronic manifestations of lymphatic filariasis of the genitals does not appear to be a substantial problem in women |

Give a brief account on fish production . |
Answer» rming or pisciculture involves raising fish commercially in tanks or enclosures such as fish ponds, usually for FOOD. It is the principal form of aquaculture, while other methods may fall under mariculture. A facility that releases juvenile fish into the wild for RECREATIONAL fishing or to supplement a species' NATURAL numbers is generally REFERRED to as a fish hatchery. What happens if elasticity of eye lens is reduced to zero? |
Answer» this presbyopia. This is the reason people need reading glasses or bifocals when they get older. Their natural lens cannot accommodate or focus at different focal lengths. In most cases the lens elasticity is not zero in a clear lens, it is cataract formation that causes this lack of elasticity. And if the cataract affects the visual axis, it causes blurry vision. When standard cataract SURGERY is done using a standard MONO focal lens, that lens does not accommodate and so the patient is in an effective state of zero elasticity. But nowadays most of the LENSES are flexible to allow EASIER insertion but they still don't accommodate. Even the accommodating IOLs (Intraocular lenses) lose their ability to accommodate after some time because the capsular bag that they sit in scars.Hope it helps ✌✌ Please mark it as BRAINLIEST.. |

Describe Head part of Cockroach. |
Answer» e cockroaches look roughly the same as adults, but are smaller and sometimes have different coloration. For the purposes of understanding the basic anatomy of a roach, it is easiest to look at the adult. Its body is divided into three segments: head, thorax and abdomen.Cockroaches have a long pair of antennae that help them to pick up smells and vibrations. The antennae are connected to the head, which also includes the brain, strong MOUTHPARTS for scraping and chewing food and compound eyes. They have poor vision and dislike light, which is why most species are nocturnal. After the head comes the thorax. It includes three pairs of legs – cockroaches have six legs total – and two pairs of wings. Additionally, there is a plate behind the head called the pronotum. It is important because that is where many species have differentiating markings. Most adult cockroaches have wings, but only a few species fly. However, cockroaches can crawl at speeds of up to 3 miles per HOUR. They are also able to traverse WALLS and ceilings due to the fact that their legs have short, spiky protrusions that stick to surfaces. The abdomen is the FINAL piece, and it contains reproductive organs. At the back of the abdomen are two short protrusions called cerci. They function like rear antennae and are connected to the roach's legs by the abdominal nerve ganglia. This allows their legs to start moving when vibrations are sensed, often before their brain EVEN processes a threat. |

Important aspects of reproduction |
Answer» ction (or procreation or breeding) is the biological process by which new individual organisms – "offspring" – are produced from their "parents". REPRODUCTION is a fundamental feature of all known life; each individual organism exists as the result of reproduction. There are two forms of reproduction: asexual and sexual. In asexual reproduction, an organism can reproduce without the involvement of another organism. Asexual reproduction is not limited to single-celled organisms. The CLONING of an organism is a form of asexual reproduction. By asexual reproduction, an organism creates a genetically similar or identical COPY of itself. The evolution of sexual reproduction is a major puzzle for biologists. The two-fold cost of sexual reproduction is that only 50% of organisms reproduce[1] and organisms only pass on 50% of their genes.[2] Sexual reproduction typically requires the sexual INTERACTION of two specialized organisms, called GAMETES, which contain half the number of chromosomes of normal cells and are created by meiosis, with typically a male fertilizing a female of the same species to create a fertilized zygote. This produces offspring organisms whose genetic characteristics are derived from those of the two parental organisms. |

Q.Explain the process of mechanism of conduction of nerve impulse? |
Answer» nerve fibres carry information in the form of nerve impulse.Nerve impulse is the sum total of physical and chemical disturbances created by a stimulus (electrical, chemical or mechanical) in a neuron or nerve fibre which result in the movement of a WAVE along the nerve fibre. The nerve fibre or axon is LIKE a cylinder, the interior of which is filled with AXOPLASM (i.e., the cytoplasm of the nerve cell) and the exterior of which is covered with a thin membrane, the axon membrane or axolemma.Transmission of Nerve ImpulseThe axon is immersed in the extracellular fluid (ECF). Through axolemma movement of solute takes place between the axoplasm and ECF. Generally the solutes in ECF and axoplasm are in ionic form. In the axoplasm -vely charged PROTEIN molecules are present which are neutralized due to the presence of large amount of K+ ions. In the ECF (outside the axon) the -vely charged CI– ions are neutralized by the presence of +vely charged Na+ ions.Conduction of nerve impulse is an electro-chemical process. Membrane of a non-conducting nerve cell or neuron is positive on the outside and negative inside. The difference in charge is about 70 to 90 millivolts which is called as resting potential and the membrane is said to be polarized. To maintain resting potential, sodium potassium metabolic pump operates. This pump which is located on the axon membrane pump Na+ from axoplasm to ECF and K+ from ECF to axoplasm. It pumps more positive charges (3 Na+) from axoplasm to ECF than in the reverse direction (2K+), and is run by an enzyme called Sodium Potassium-ATPase. The concentration of sodium ions will be about 14 times more in ECF (outside) and concentration of potassium ions will be about 28-30 times more in axoplasm (inside). When a stimulus (MAY be mechanical, electrical or chemical) is applied to the membrane of the nerve fibre, its permeability changes and sodium potassium pump stop operating. Sodium ions rush inside and potassium ions rush outside. This results in the positive charge inside and negative charge outside. |

What does peizometer measure high pressure or low pressure? |
Answer» meter is either a device used to measure liquid pressure in a system by measuring the height to which a column of the liquid rises against gravity, or a device which measures the pressure (more precisely, the piezometric head) of groundwater [1] at a specific point. A piezometer is designed to measure static pressures, and THUS DIFFERS from a PITOT tube by not being pointed into the fluid flow.Observation wells give some information on the water level in a formation, but must be read manually. Electrical pressure TRANSDUCERS of several types can be read automatically, MAKING data acquisition more convenient. |
