14.

What is electron transport system

Answer»

The electron transport system is the stage in CELLULAR respiration in which oxidative PHOSPHORYLATION occurs and the BULK of the ATP is produced.
Electron carriers are reduced duringglycolysis and the citric acid cycle to NADH + H+ and FADH2. These carriers then donate electrons and protons to the electron CARRIER proteins of the electron transport chain. The final electron acceptor is oxygen. Together with oxygen, electrons and protons form molecules of water.

25.

How does birds walk on the ground ? what are tge various ways in which birfs are adapted for flying

Answer»

Birds all share some characteristics. All birds are warm-blooded, or endothermic, animals. Birds are vertebrates because they have backbones. All birds have a four-chambered HEART, a characteristic they share with mammals. All birds lay hard-shelled eggs. Birds have only two legs. Their forelimbs have become modified into wings for flying. All modern birds evolved from ancestors that could fly. Some modern birds, like penguins and ostriches, don't fly today. But they still have feathers and wings. Feathers probably evolved from reptiles' scales. Both feathers and scales are made of the same TOUGH material as your fingernails. Birds' feet and legs have scales on them.

2 The bodies of birds are adapted for flying. Many of a bird's bones are hollow which makes birds' bodies lightweight. Flying birds have large chest muscles that move the wings. Birds have feathers that help them fly. The long flight feathers on the wings and tail help birds balance and steer. In addition, birds have a system of air sacs in their body that CONNECT to the lungs. The air sacs enable birds to extract much more oxygen from each breath of air than other animals can. Birds need extra oxygen to release large amounts of energy to power their flight. Their four-chambered heart also helps a bird get more oxygen. The ADVANTAGE of a four-chambered heart is that there is no mixing of oxygen-rich and oxygen-poor blood. Blood that arrives in the bird's body tissues has plenty of oxygen.

3 Birds also have well-developed brains and keen eyesight. In order to fly, birds must have very quick reactions. When approaching a tree or cliff, a bird has only a few seconds to spot a place to land safely and avoid crashing. Most birds have keener eyesight than humans do. Birds' eyes are much larger in RELATION to their body size than humans' eyes.

Answer»

Temporalis muscle

This muscle is so massive in carnivores that it accounts for most of the bulk of the sides of the head (when you pet a dog, you are petting its temporalis muscles). The “angle” of the MANDIBLE (lower JAW) in carnivores is small. And hence this is the primary muscle that is used for operateing the jaw in carnivores.

want is biological magnication ? will the level of this magnification be different at different levels of the ecosystem

Answer»

The INCREASING concentration of a substance, such as a toxic chemical, in the tissues of organisms at successively higher levels in a food chain. As a result of BIOMAGNIFICATION, organisms at the top of the food chain generally suffer greater HARM from a persistent toxin or pollutant than those at LOWER levels.yes

36.

How will you prove that the air that we breathe out contain carbondioxide?

Answer»

Hello mate

If CO2 continues to be passed, more CARBONIC acid forms, which then REACTS with the calcium carbonate to form calcium hydrogencarbonate, which is soluble, so the precipitate is seen to DISSOLVE. In this EXPERIMENT we will investigate the carbon dioxide levels of inhaled and EXHALED air.

37.

How does respiration and photosynthesis help in maintaining the balance of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the atmospherePlease Answer Fast

Answer»

The balance of oxygen and CARBON DIOXIDE is made due to RESPIRATION and photosynthesis. As we leave carbon dioxide and take in oxygen the balance of carbon dioxide and oxygen is made. And during the photosynthesis of PLANTS the balance of carbon dioxide and oxygen is made.

Hope it HELPS you

Role of biochemicals produced by the plants in response to pathogen attack

Answer»

Plants are challenged by a variety of biotic stresses like fungal, bacterial, or viral infections. This LEAD to a great loss to plant yield. There are various options available for the farmers to protect their crop from the disease. Some options include development of resistant cultivars, biological control, crop rotation, tillage, and chemical pesticides

Plants can activate separate DEFENSE pathways DEPENDING on the type of pathogen encountered [2]. Jasmonic acid (JA) and ethylene dependent responses SEEM to be initiated by necrotrophs, WHEREAS salicylic acid (SA) dependent response is activated by biotrophic pathogens

these biochemicals produced help the plant to improve its defense mechanism of the plant.

42.

Discuss the mechanism of biological nitrogen fixation?

Answer»

Biological nitrogen fixation is the process in which certain LIVING organisms convert the free nitrogen into those compounds which can be used by PLANTS.

(a) The organisms may be free-living bacteria (e.g., Azotobacter), symbiotic bacteria like Rhizobium or Cyanobacteria.

(b) The enzyme involved in the process is NITROGENASE,

which is a Mo-Fe PROTEIN.

© During this process, the atmospheric nitrogen is reduced by the addition of hydrogen.

(d) The three bonds between the two nitrogen atoms (N = N) are broken and hydrogen is progressively added to from ammonia.

(e) This fixation requires three components :

(i) ATP, to supply energy.

(ii) A strong reducing agent, to TRANSFER hydrogen atoms.

(iii) The enzyme system (nitrogenase)

(g) The overall reaction is as follows :

Why do we remove our hand away from a hot object??

Answer»

Here's your answer:

When we touch any HOT object we IMMEDIATELY withdraw our HANDS, this is due to phenomenon known as reflex action. In reflex action, sensory nerve endings present in our skin detect the HEAT and transfer the signal to the spinal cord. The spinal cord then coordinates the response and causes the muscles to move.

What is best suited for detection of calculi in submandibular?

Answer»

Sialolithiasis (also termed salivary CALCULI,or salivary stones), is a condition where a calcified MASS or sialolith forms within a salivary gland, usually in the duct of the submandibular gland (also termed "Wharton's duct"). Less commonly the parotid gland or rarely the sublingual gland or a minor salivary gland may develop salivary stones.
The usual symptoms are PAIN and swelling of the affected salivary gland, both of which get worse when salivary flow is stimulated, e.g. with the sight, thought, smell or taste of food, or with hunger or chewing. This is often termed "mealtime syndrome". Inflammation or infection of the gland may develop as a result. Sialolithiasis may also develop because of the presence of existing chronic infection of the glands, dehydration (e.g. use of phenotheazines), sjorens syndromeand/or increased local levels of calcium, but in many instances the cause is idiopathic(unknown).

The condition is usually managed by removing the stone, and several different techniques are available. Rarely, removal of the submandibular gland may become necessary in cases of recurrent stone formation. Sialolithiasis is common, accounting for about 50% of all disease occurring in the major salivary glands and CAUSING symptoms in about 0.45% of the general population. PERSONS aged 30–60 and males are more likely to develop sialolithiasis.

I hope this will help you
