The importance of eating a balanced diet essay for students

Answer»

ced diet is one that PROVIDES a good intake of energy and nutrients for maintenance of the body and for the good health. A diet can easily support normal body functioning, YET may not be a balanced diet. An ideal human diet contains fat, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, water and fibre all in correct proportions. These proportions vary for each individual because everyone has different type of metabolic style and levels of activity. Malnutrition results from an unbalanced diet, this can be due to an excess of some dietary components and lack of other components, not just a complete lack of food. Too much of one component can be as much harm to the body as too LITTLE. Nowadays we have enough food to eat and keep our healthy body, but we still suffer from diseases. So I will focus on the result of lack of a specific nutrition especially vitamin and mineral deficiency.Energy is provided by carbohydrates, fats and proteins. We also need much smaller amounts of other nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals. Because much smaller quantities are needed for a balanced diet these are known as micronutrients. Despite the small quantities needed these are essential to provide a healthy diet as they have specific roles in metabolic reactions and as structural components. Vitamin Vitamins cannot be made in the body so must be supplied by diet. Vitamins have no common STRUCTURE or function but are essential in small amounts for the body to be able to utilise other dietary components efficiently. Vitamins fall into two CATEGORIES, fat soluble vitamins such as vitamin A, D, E and K which are ingested with fatty foods and water soluble vitamins such as the B group vitamins and vitamin C. Vitamins are known as micronutrients because only small quantities are required for a healthy diet, in fact fat soluble vitamins can be toxic in high concentrations, for example the body stores vitamin A, or retinol, in the liver as it is toxic if kept in high concentrations in the blood stream, a dose of more than 3300mg of vitamin A can be considered toxic. Water soluble vitamins such as vitamin C and B group’s vitamins can be excreted in the urine if in excess in the diet.

What is the difference betweet gray matter and white matter ?

Answer» TRAL nervous system is comprised of grey matter and white matter. Grey matter CONTAINS cell BODIES, dendrites and AXON terminals of neural cells. White matter contains all of the axons of the neural cells. These axons connect the grey and white matter together.Grey matter is also different from white matter in that it contains very few myelinated axons. The myelination of the axons is what GIVES the white matter its color. The cell bodies appear grey and give the grey matter its color. In living tissue samples, grey matter may also appear yellow with pink hues due to blood vessels present in the matter, but in dead tissue samples the matter is grey.

34.

Vehicles should be checked regularly for the amount of pollution they cause why?

Answer»

h air pollution comes from cars? You see it every time that smoke billows from your car's EXHAUST pipe, so there's no denying that vehicles are major contributors to air pollution. Air pollution refers to the presence of foreign substances in the air that don’t belong there, or excessive amounts of certain IMPURITIES that wouldn't harm us OTHERWISE. When cars burn gasoline, they emit POLLUTANTS. Gasoline fumes escape into the air even when we pump gasoline into our fuel tanks. There are four major pollutants that come from cars:A car emits CARBON monoxidewhen the carbon in fuel doesn't burn completely.A car's exhaust emits hydrocarbons, a toxic compound of hydrogen and carbon. When fuel burns, nitrogen and oxygen react with each other and form nitrogen oxides (NOx).Particulate matter -- small particles of foreign substances -- in the air contribute to atmospheric haze and can damage people’s lungs.

When the diaphragm contracts and moves lower, the CHEST cavity enlarges, reducing the pressure inside the lungs. To equalize the pressure, air enters the lungs. When the diaphragm relaxes and moves back up, the elasticity of the lungs and chest wall pushes air out of the lungs. The larynx is a tough, flexible SEGMENT of the respiratory tract CONNECTING the pharynx to the trachea in the neck. It plays a vital role in the respiratory tract by allowing air to pass through it while keeping food and drink from blocking the airway.also used in voice differentiation

41.

Silent features of barley's bacteria classification

Answer»

MoneraIt is very surprising to know that bacteria alone occupy a complete kingdom in the hierarchy of living organisms. They are the omnipresent organisms of the living world. We can find bacteria almost everywhere. This property can be owed to the fact that bacteria have a wide range of variety and many of them are ADAPTED to survive in extreme environmental conditions. A large number of bacteria also live on other organisms as parasites.Bacteria can be classified into four major types based on their shape:Coccus – Spherical shapedBacillus – rod shapedVibrium – comma shapedSpirillium – spiral shapedAs far as mode of nutrition of bacteria is concerned, some of them are autotrophic while rest of them are heterotrophic.ArchaebacteriaArchaebacteria constitute those bacteria of kingdom Monera which survive in extreme environments. The secret of this CHARACTERISTIC lies in cell wall structure of these bacteria which allows them to withstand harsh conditions.EubacteriaEubacteria are otherwise known as true bacteria. They help in a variety of processes like decomposition, nitrogen fixation, antibiotics production, etc. Some bacteria are pathogens in nature and cause diseases when in the body. For example, typhoid, cholera, tuberculosis, etc. Bacteria majorly reproduce by fission and under unfavourable conditions, by spores. In some rare CASES, bacteria reproduce sexually which includes the transfer of DNA material from one bacterium to another.Monera also include Mycoplasma, which are the smallest known organisms which can survive without oxygen. They do not possess a cell wall and many of them are known to be pathogenic in nature.
