Write the steps involved in generating electricity in a nuclear reactor

Answer» The steps involved in generating electricity in a nuclear reactor are:(i) The controlled fission of uranium-235 in the nuclear reactor produces a lot of heat energy.(ii) Liquid sodium or C02 gas is pumped continuously through the pipes embedded in reactor. Sodium absorbs the heat energy produced in reactor.(iii) The hot sodium is then passed into the coil of heat exchanger containing water. The water absorbs heat from hot sodium and gets converted into steam.(iv) This steam at high pressure is used to rotate the turbine. The shaft of the turbine is connected to the electric generator. When turbine rotates, its shaft also rotates and drives the generator. The generator thus, produces the electricity.

There is feedback mechanism by which hormones are secreted in precise quantities.Explain.

Answer» Feedback mechanism is the mechanism of the body to maintain the levels of hormones in the body in the desired limits. An increase or decrease in the levels of the hormones triggers the feedback mechanism.\xa0The body has two types of feedback mechanisms, positive and negative feedback mechanism.Example:Negative feedback mechanism:\xa0Whenever there is a change in the normal state, the messages are sent to ‘increase’ secretions if there is a fall below normal or to ‘decrease’ secretions if there is a rise above normal to restore the normal body state. Such a mechanism is called a negative feedback mechanism. The increase in the blood sugar level stimulates the secretion of insulin so that the sugar level is maintained. If the blood sugar level falls below normal, then it stimulates the secretion of glucagon. Glucagon stimulates the breakdown of glycogen to glucose, and thus, the normal sugar level is maintained.

Why planets do not twinkle??? don\'t answer in typical language.

Answer» But i yet not understood it clearly
Because they are very close to earth comparatively from stars So the atmospheric refraction can not be seen there.
Stars twinkle because they appear as tiny pinpoints as seen from Earth, even through telescopes.Planets don\'t twinkle because they are closer, and thus appear larger in our sky, as tiny disks instead of pinpoints.
Because they have their own light and they are quite closer to earth than stars

Why copper is used in tanks rather than the steel

Answer» Copper is used to make hot water tanks and not steel this is because the iron (in steel) is more reactive than then copper also it react with hot steam to produce ferrosoferric oxide. Due to which the body of tank will become weaker and weaker. While copper does not react with hot water.
It is less reactive
As steel has iron as a constituent due to which when it reacts with water forms Fe3O4

Difference between static electricity and current electricity

Answer» Thank you to both of you
The most significant difference between the static and current electricity is that in static electricity the charges are at rest and they are accumulating on the surface of the insulator. Whereas in current electricity the electrons are moving inside the conductor.

Key points of working of motor and generator

Answer» An electric motor is a rotating device that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy. Electric motor is used as an important component in electric fans, refrigerators, mixers, washing machines, computers, MP3 players etc. An electric motor consists of a rectangular coil ABCD of insulated copper wire. The coil is placed between the two poles of a magnetic field such that the arm AB and CD are perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field. The ends of the coil are connected to the two halves P and Q of a split ring. The inner sides of these halves are insulated and attached to an axle. The external conducting edges of P and Q touch two conducting stationary brushes X and Y, respectively. Current in the coil ABCD enters from the source battery through conducting brush X and flows back to the battery through brush Y. Notice that the current in arm AB of the coil flows from A to B. In arm CD it flows from C to D, that is, opposite to the direction of current through arm AB. On applying Fleming’s left hand rule for the direction of force on a current-carrying conductor in a magnetic field. The force acting on arm AB pushes it downwards while the force acting on arm CD pushes it upwards. Thus the coil and the axle O, mounted free to turn about an axis, rotate anti-clockwise. At half rotation, Q makes contact with the brush X and P with brush Y. Therefore the current in the coil gets reversed and flows along the path DCBA. A device that reverses the direction of flow of current through a circuit is called a commutator. In electric motors, the split ring acts as a commutator. The reversal of current also reverses the direction of force acting on the two arms AB and CD. Thus the arm AB of the coil that was earlier pushed down is now pushed up and the arm CD previously pushed up is now pushed down. Therefore the coil and the axle rotate half a turn more in the same direction. The reversing of the current is repeated at each half rotation, giving rise to a continuous rotation of the coil and to the axle.\xa0\xa0Electric Generator: The electric generator is based on the principle of electromagnetic induction and converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. There are two types of generators:\tAC generator producing a current which periodically changes its direction\tDC generator producing a current which always flows in the same direction. An AC generator can be changed into a DC generator by replacing the slip-ring arrangement with the split-ring (commutator) arrangement. In an electric generator, mechanical energy is used to rotate a conductor in a magnetic field to produce electricity. An electric generator consists of a rotating rectangular coil ABCD placed between the two poles of a permanent magnet. The two ends of this coil are connected to the two rings R1 and R2. The inner side of these rings are made insulated. The two conducting stationary brushes B1 and B2 are kept pressed separately on the rings R1 and R2, respectively. The two rings R1 and R2 are internally attached to an axle. The axle may be mechanically rotated from outside to rotate the coil inside the magnetic field.Outer ends of the two brushes are connected to the galvanometer to show the flow of current in the given external circuit. When the axle attached to the two rings is rotated such that the arm AB moves up (and the arm CD moves down) in the magnetic field produced by the permanent magnet. Let us say the coil ABCD is rotated clockwise. By applying Fleming’s right-hand rule, the induced currents are set up in these arms along the directions AB and CD. Thus an induced current flows in the direction ABCD. If there are larger numbers of turns in the coil, the current generated in each turn adds up to give a large current through the coil. This means that the current in the external circuit flows from B2 to B1. After half a rotation, arm CD starts moving up and AB moving down. As a result, the directions of the induced currents in both the arms change, giving rise to the net induced current in the direction DCBA. The current in the external circuit now flows from B1 to B2. Thus after every half rotation the polarity of the current in the respective armschanges. Such a current, which changes direction after equal intervals of time, is called an alternating current (abbreviated as AC). This deviceis called an AC generator.

Explain law of independent assortment

Answer» Formation of random combinations of chromosomes in meiosis and of genes on different pairs of homologous.
Mendel\'s law of independent assortment states that the alleles of two (or more) different genes get sorted into gametes independently of one another. In other words, the allele a gamete receives for one gene does not influence the allele received for another gene.

Some examples of endothermic reaction

Answer» \tWhen ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) is dissolved in water, an endothermic reaction takes place. The salt dissociates into ammonium (NH4+) and chloride (Cl–) ions. The chemical equation can be written as follows: NH4Cl (s) + H2O (l) ⟶ NH4Cl (aq) – Heat\tAmmonium nitrate (NH4NO3), an important component in instant cold packs, dissociates into the ammonium cation (NH4+) and the nitrate anion (NO3–) when dissolved in water. These ions go on to form ammonium hydroxide (NH4OH) and nitric acid (HNO3) respectively (by reacting with the OH– and H+ ions in water). This reaction is endothermic in nature since it cools the surroundings by absorbing heat from it.\tThe formation of nitric oxide from the reaction between nitrogen and oxygen is endothermic since it involves the absorption of approximately 180.5 kilojoules of heat for every mole of N2 and O2.
Photosynthesis reaction is an endothermic reaction
1. N2+O2+Heat-> NO 2. CaCO3+Heat-> CaO+CO2
