Answer» चौरी चौरा, उत्तर प्रदेश में गोरखपुर के पास का एक कस्बा है जहाँ\xa04 फ़रवरी 1922\xa0को भारतीयों ने ब्रिटिश सरकार की एक पुलिस चौकी को आग लगा दी थी जिससे उसमें छुपे हुए 22 पुलिस कर्मचारी जिन्दा जल के मर गए थे। इस घटना को चौरीचौरा काण्ड के नाम से जाना जाता है। इसके परिणामस्वरूप गांधीजी ने कहा था कि हिंसा होने के कारण असहयोग आन्दोलन उपयुक्त नहीं रह गया है और उसे वापस ले लिया था।परिणामइस घटना के तुरन्त बाद गांधीजी ने\xa0असहयोग आन्दोलन\xa0को समाप्त करने की घोषणा कर दी। बहुत से लोगों को गांधीजी का यह निर्णय उचित नहीं लगा। विशेषकर क्रांतिकारियों ने इसका प्रत्यक्ष या परोक्ष विरोध किया। गया कांग्रेस में रामप्रसाद बिस्मिल और उनके नौजवान सहयोगियों ने गांधीजी का विरोध किया। १९२२ की गया कांग्रेस में खन्नाजी ने व उनके साथियों ने बिस्मिल के साथ कन्धे से कन्धा भिड़ाकर गांधीजी का ऐसा विरोध किया कि कांग्रेस में फिर दो विचारधारायें बन गयीं - एक उदारवादी या लिबरल और दूसरी विद्रोही या रिबेलियन। गांधीजीजी विद्रोही विचारधारा के नवयुवकों को कांग्रेस की आम सभाओं में विरोध करने के कारण हमेशा हुल्लड़बाज कहा करते थे।चौरी चौरा में 4 फरवरी, 1922 ई. को स्थानीय पुलिस और \'ख़िलाफ़त आंदोलन\' एवं \'भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस\' के समर्थकों के बीच अप्रत्याशित संघर्ष हुआ।क्रोध से भरी हुई भीड़ ने चौरी-चौरा के थाने में आग लगा दी और 22 पुलिसकर्मियों को जिंदा जला दिया।चौरी चौरा की इस घटना से महात्मा गाँधी द्वारा चलाये गये \'सविनय अवज्ञा आंदोलन\' को आघात पहुँचा, जिसके कारण उन्हें \'सविनय अवज्ञा आंदोलन\' को स्थागित करना पड़ा, जो बारदोली, गुजरात से शुरू किया जाने वाला था। Andulan |

Water can also be saved for the use of another time as and when the demand for electricity is high hence the usage of water remains judicious.\tDams are so designed by well-qualified engineers to span many of the decades and also can contribute to the generation of electricity for about many years or even decades to come.\tThe lake or reservoir which\xa0forms behind the dam can also be used for the irrigation purpose, water sports or even as other forms of pleasurable activities.Few large dams such as the\xa0Bhakra Nangal dam present in India is the tourist attractions.\tThe buildup of water inside lake means that the energy can also be stored when needed and also when water is released for producing the electricity.\tWhen used, the produced electricity by the dams does not even produce the greenhouse gases and also hence they do not\xa0pollute the atmosphere.\tSome of the disadvantages are:\t\t\tDams tend to be extremely expensive to build and when a decision is taken to build one anyway, it must adhere to a very high standard.And other point to be kept in mind is that since the cost is so high for dam construction, it goes to mean that they must operate for many decades to become profitable enough.You must have heard of the rare flooding related to big dams. But this flooding of large areas of land means that the natural environment is destroyed.Relocation is another big concern. People living in villages and towns that are in the valley that could be flooded, must move out. Hence, they lose their farms and businesses. In some countries, people are forcibly removed so that hydro-power plant constructions can go ahead. This happens to be an ethical concern.The building of large dams can cause serious geological damage, for instance, the building of the Hoover Dam in the USA triggered a number of earth quakes and has depressed the earth’s surface at its location.
