To find the profit earned, we require time period and investment of each person. THUS, all the statements are necessary

From I,II & III : Neeta invested Rs. 85,000 for 24 months while Seeta and Geeta invested for 18 months.

Amount invested by Seeta = $\frac{3}{8} \times 2.3 = $ lakhs

= $Rs. 86,250$

=> Amount invested by Geeta = $2,30,000 - 86,250 = Rs. 1,43,750$

=> RATIO of SHARE in profit of Neeta , Seeta and Geeta

= $(85,000 \times 24) : (86,250 \times 18) : (1,43,750 \times 18)$

$\therefore$ We can calculate Neeta's share in profit.

Thus, all the statements are necessary.

If 12 boys or 15 girls can do a work in 48 days, in what time will 24 boys and 6 girls do twice the work?1). 42 days2). 40 days3). 45 days4). 30 days

Answer»

Solution

12 boys or 15 girls can do a WORK in 48 days

=> $12 boys \equiv 15 girls$

=> $24 boys \equiv 30 girls$

We NEED to FIND for 24 boys and 6 girls. Substituting value of 24 boys

=> $24 boys + 6 girls = 36 girls$

Now, using : $\frac{M_1 \times D_1}{W_1} = \frac{M_2 \times D_2}{W_2}$

=> $\frac{15 \times 48}{1} = \frac{36 \times D_2}{2}$

=> $15 \times 48 = 18 \times D_2$

=> $D_2 = \frac{15 \times 48}{18}$

=> $D_2 = 5 \times 8 = 40$ days

A shopkeeper sold a T.V. set for Rs. 17,940/-, with a discount of 8% and gained 19.6% If no discount is allowed, what will be his gain per cent?1). 25%2). 26.4%3). 24.8%4). Cannot be determined

Answer»

Solution

Let C.P. = Rs. $100x$

=> Selling price after profit of 19.6 %

= $100x + \FRAC{19.6}{100} \TIMES 100x = 119.6x$

ACC. to ques,

=> $119.6x = 17,940$

=> $x = \frac{17,940}{119.6} = 150$

=> C.P. = Rs. $15,000$

MARKED price after discount of 8%

= $\frac{100}{92} \times 17,940$

= $19,500$

$\therefore$ Profit when no discount is given

= $\frac{19,500 - 15,000}{15,000} \times 100$

= $\frac{45}{15} \times 10 = 30 \%$
