Khalil Gibran presents the rain in all its glory, movements, sounds and colours. The very first image gives a divine touch to the rain. Its shimmering dotted silver threads are dropped from the heaven by the gods themselves. In the next image, Gibran compares the rain to ‘beautiful white pearls’ plucked from the crown of Ishtar. Then in  three images, the poet expresses the different intense movements and sounds of the rain.

When it ‘cries’, the hills laugh. When it falls down in ‘humble’ and soft drops, the flowers rejoice. When it bows and spreads showers all around, everyone is ‘elated’. The ‘voice of thunder1 declares its arrival. The rainbow announces its departure. It emerges from the heart of the sea and soars with the breeze. It embraces flowers and trees in a ‘million little ways’. It is a ‘sigh’ of the sea. It is the ‘laughter’ of the field. It is ‘the tears of heaven’.

The rain has its own music and song. It can be heard by all but only a few can understand and feel its music or song. Only the sensitive and delicate souls and hearts can feel and understand the melodies of rain. Collect poems which give us images of rain.

The poet has built a very suggestive imagery of rain. He uses the alliteration ‘sigh of the sea’ to express the way seawater evaporates in the form of water vapours. The rain becomes the ‘laughter of the field when it helps the growing crops to smile and laugh in joy. As it drops from the sky; it appears as if heaven (sky) is shedding tears’ from above.

The poet says that the rain embraces flowers and trees in a million little ways. It is just a hyperbolic expression. The rain embraces the trees when the showers or drops of rainfall on them. The showers fall on the trees and go deep into their roots. The rivers, lakes and ponds carry rainwater that reaches plants and trees.

The poet Khalil Gibran presents some beautiful images of the rain. The shimmering drops of rain falling one after the other look like the ‘dotted silver threads’. It appears as if the gods themselves are dropping those silver threads from heaven. Similarly, the pure white drops of the rain are compared to the ‘beautiful pearls’ plucked from the crown of Ishtar. Both the comparisons appear to be apt and logical.

Khalil Gibran ends the poem with Philosophical overtones. The rain is termed as a ‘sigh’ rising from deep love and affection. It is like a laughter that colours the soul. It is like ‘tears’ that fall from the endless heaven of memories.

Derry suffers from an acute sense of self-hatred and rejection because of his burnt face. He feels he is very ugly and so no one will love him. Mr. Lamb too has heard Derry only complain and bemoan about himself. He feels very sad to see a fourteen year old boy giving up on life just because of his physical disability. Mr. Lamb at first startles Derry with his strange talk. He tells Derry his is interested in everything created by God. His encouraging words have a magical effect on Derry. Mr. Lamb's conversation that everyone and everything is essentially the same, the notion of beauty is relative and his concept of the world and friendship baffle but appeal to Derry and he is fascinated by the old man. Slowly he sheds his complex about his ugliness and rediscovers the joys of life.

The blood of the Nightingale would not flow into the veins of the rose tree and it might not give a red rose. This would disappoint the student.

I don’t agree with the Nightingale. The very words of the Nightingale prove that the heart of the bird is more noble and valuable than that of a man. The heart of the bird is full of goodness. But the heart of man is full of selfishness. Man thinks that everything in nature is meant for him. But the fact is that man is not superior to any other living being on the earth. Nature will exist even without man. But man cannot exist without other living beings.

The Nightingale thought that love is better than life. It also believed that the heart of a bird is nothing compared to the heart of a man.

We know that Muk was frightened because as soon as he heard Mrs. Groover’s voice saying that she would let her ferocious dog loose on them, he started climbing up the tree.

According to me, Mrs. Groover is an able administrator and disciplinarian outside but from the inside, she seems to be a kind-hearted, sensitive and understanding person. She did not jump to conclusions. She patiently listened to the boys and allowed Rohan to complete the seventeen rounds around the banyan tree to fulfill his wish.

Though Derry's association with Mr Lamb is brief, yet the boy benefits greatly from the old man's company. Derry had lost all zest for life due to his burnt face. After meeting Mr Lamb, Derry is filled with a new enthusiasm for life. He undergoes a major transformation and develops into a confident youth from the meek young boy that he earlier was. Mr Lamb's words have a profound effect on him an inspire him to see the brighter side of life. He is encouraged to choose happiness in life rather than accept his isolation. He is no more bothered about his impairment, and wants to live his life to the fullest. His entire attitude towards life has changed drastically.

Parched fields wait for the rain for their existence. Fields love the clouds as they bring rain to them.

When it's a bit cooler, Mr Lamb gets a ladder and a stick to pull down the crab apples. He calls them magic-fruit and likes to make jelly out of them.

Mr. Lamb narrated this story to Derry to make him understand that he can not fight destiny or keep himself self by avoiding public glare or going out. What is bound to happen, shall surely happen some or the other day. Thus, it is best to live life freely without fussing over the consequences.

To the rose of the eastern sky

Mr Lamb himself suffers from a physical disability as Derry does. He sees that Derry besides his physical disability suffers from the feeling of loneliness and alienation. He talks to him very lovingly and says that he is free to come to his house whenever he wants. He gives him his own example and tells that children tease him for his tin leg, but he still likes their company. He tells him that people have more interesting things to do than to stare at his face. He provokes him to meet people and do what he wants without bothering what people will say about him. He invites him to come to his garden and play with children. He tries his best to convince him to think positive about life and finally becomes successful in bringing him on the right path.

Once there lived three friends Vani, Kavi and Sumi. They always played pranks on one another. One day Vani bought some delicious berries and she decided to share them with her friends.

When my father was posted in Patna, we had to move there. On a fine Sunday morning, my brother challenged me for a cycle race. I agreed. We started off with a big scream. I was determined to win the race, as I have not won the race earlier. So I pedalled, as fast as I could. My legs and hands ached. Gradually, I moved ahead of my brother. Suddenly I bumped on a cow, which was in the middle of the , road. The frightened cow ran away. I fell down and immediately got up. ‘I want to win’. This thought made me not to bother of my pain. My brother was closer to me. Slowly I managed to pedal the cycle again. My brother had gone a little further than me. I gathered courage and speed after sometime. I pedalled as fast as I could and reached the finishing point, two seconds before my brother. I screamed with glee that I had won the race.
