A) LSDB) cocaineC) opiumprovide  extra names  of  list of some drug  which are   stimulant  and depressant

Answer»

First you should know about the terms Stimulants and Depressant.

Stimulants are drugs that 'stimulate' the central nervous system. In other words, they increase the activity in your brain. Though each stimulant has unique effects, all stimulants increase your heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature. By increasing the electrical activity in your brain, stimulants cause you to be more alert, decrease fatigue, and prolong physical activity. Stimulants can also improve your mood and increase self-confidence. For these reasons, stimulants are also referred to as 'uppers.'

Some of the more common types of stimulants are caffeine, nicotine, cocaine, amphetamines, and methamphetamines.

Depressants are drugs that slow down the activity of the central nervous system. By decreasing the electrical activity in the brain, depressants produce a calming effect in the body and slow down the brain's normal functioning. Depressants can decrease your level of awareness, lower your pulse and heart rate, and reduce breathing. For these reasons, depressants are also referred to as 'downers'.

some common type of depressant drugs are barbiturates, benzodiazepines, ethanol, opioids, cannabis, and flunitrazepam.

  1. LSD is one of the most potent, mood-changing chemicals. Lysergic acid diethylamide, also known as acid, is a hallucinogenic drug. This drug alter thoughts, feelings, and awareness of one's surroundings.
  2. Cocaine, also called crack cocaine, is a highly addictive stimulant. It can be snorted, injected into a vein, or smoked. Cocaine is mostly used as a recreational drug. This drug causes Mental effects which includes loss of contact with reality, an intense feeling of happiness, or agitation.
  3. Opium is a narcotic depressant obtained from the seedpod of an opium poppy. It is commonly used as an analgesic painkiller.
32.

What measures you would suggest to reduce the impact of high Altitude training?

Answer»

Measures to reduce its impact:

(a) The athlete must be exposed to high level Altitude training. It requires several days for adaptation.

(b) The trainers/coaches to assure the most favourable circumstances for the athlete.

(c) Proper protective clothing is important.

(d) Gloves, caps and double pair stockings are also helpful.

(e) Once athlete starts to warmup and starts to sweat he should remove his excess clothing.

(f) With prolonged stay at altitude, the myobin concentration in both the heart and skeletal muscles increases, which favours acclimatization at high altitude.

(g) The skin tends to be dryer at high altitude, it may also cause sun burn so use of cold cream, sunscreen cream and goggles are advisable.

33.

What the main effects of high altitude training?

Answer»

Following are the main effects of high altitude on Physical performance:

(a) Decrease in total Barometric Pressure: As we ascend to higher and higher altitudes, the total barometric pressure (Barometric pressure reflects the force of earth's gravity acting on the atmosphere: therefore the atmospheric pressure is greatest at the surface of the earth and gradually gets smaller as one moves to higher altitudes) decreases because of the decreased weight of the atmosphere. The force of gravity is smaller at high altitude than at sea level, the energy required to lift the body, as in the pole vault and high jump, would decrease. However the effect on physical performance is quite small.

(b) Decrease in Partial Pressure of Oxygen: The decreased barometric pressure causes the partial pressure of oxygen (PO2) to be decreased. The decreased oxygen pressure at high altitude decreases the arterial oxygen saturation of blood which, in turn decreases the amount of oxygen available to the working tissues. Physically, the decreased PO2 is the most critical factor of high altitude because the individual's work capacity depends largely upon his ability to take in and utilize oxygen rapidly. Because of this, pilots and mountain climbers are required to take oxygen at altitudes over 20,000 feet.

(c) Decrease in density of Air: The decreased density, of the air reduces the resistance of the airways to the flow of air into and out of the lungs. This permits greater volume of air to be taken in during work with no significant increase in ventilation cost. In which air resistance is a factor, the reduction density of the air acts in favour of those performance e.g., sprint type activities, jumping, pol, vaulting. throwing etc.

(d) Cool and dry Air: The air is generally cooler and dry at high altitude. Although the cool temperature makes work more pleasant, and in fact, can help performances involving prolong exertion, the dry air can also increase the water loss from the respiratory tract which may contribute to the dehydration. Also, dryness of the throat is often experienced by athletes as a result of the dry air.

(e) Sunburn and Snow Blindness: It is common for skiers and mountaineers to experience sunburns and snow blindness at high altitude. The solar radiation is much more intense at high altitude than at sea level and the skin tends to be dryer at high altitudes. as the winds generally blood harder at higher elevations. Skin burns at high altitude are also related to the decreased density of air.
