My FRIEND and I wanted to create a VPN and so on so that we would be able to see eachothers Workgroups, but we seem to be GETTING no luck with it. Both of us have Windows XP O/S.

Hello to everyone. today when i reboot my PC after it having some werid SLOWDOWN , before i was able to starup windows i got this error.

A.S.M.A.R.T error dedcted.
Press F1 to resume
OR to dissconnect from network or something like that.

I hope you can all help me when i try to load up windows when i push F1 it or does not load up , or LOADS super slow took me over a hour just to get pass the windows loading screen.

I would thank anyone for there help this is a serious matter.

In either event, back your your files and get a new HD.If the HD with the self-monitor error is making clicking or humming noises, it COULD be having bearing trouble. FLIPPING the drive over and mounting it inverted can relieve some stress on failing bearing portions and keep the drive functional longer. Then go through and copy out all your data to CDROM while it works, and while you wait on your replacement drive.

Maxtor's MaxBlast and WD's DataLifeguard can be used to do diagnostics on the drive to see if it is suitable for further service as a SECONDARY drive after a new one runs as your boot drive. You may have to disable SMART monitoring in BIOS to complete a bootup.

I downloaded and installed SP2 about a WEEK ago and, well it didnt play nice with my computer, so I did a system restore to about 4 days before having it downloaded/installed. ( I have XP, obviously). Now that I no longer run with SP2, what exactly happened to all 76-200 mbs (or so microsoft says) of it and how can I re-install/download it later when bugs have been worked out? Also, I use to have the automatic update icon in my quicklaunch constantly, its not there anymore, is this a side effect, or better yet, what happened to it?Sean.....What did you mean ....."it didn't play nice" exactly what happened when sp2 was installed?
By any CHANCE ....did you have any XP hotfixes ( SP2 )installed before you d/l SP2? The REASON I ask is that I had 4 of the sp2 hotfixes before sp2 installed .....and I also had problems .

dl65 Some programs stopped working and everything slowed down, horribly. By SP2 hotfixes do you mean the automatic updates...?, Yes.

Besides that though, what happened to it?Sean......SP2 has issue with some 3rd party software and real issues with 3rd party drivers.....I had 4 updates that were called hotfixes for sp2 ...that was several months before sp2 came out....But I suspect they conflicted with the current sp2 release .......anyway ,my solution was to format ....reinstall XP.......and then update to sp2 ........had no problems...... ( I have 2 pcs with sp2 on them ) Both run fine .
I have a cousin back east who had a similar problem with sp2 .....format was the solution .......nothing else seemed to solve the issue.

dl65 Yea, I have about 12 of those hotfixes....instead of formating and re-installing could I just remove the hotfixes....(I think I remember seeing them in the add/remove menu), and then update to SP2?

Either way, I'm going to end up doing it, but heres the real problem, my automatic update quicklaunch is gone and I have no idea where my download of SP2 went....any ideas!?!?Sean.....The only hotfix's that are in issue I believe were that specificaly refered to SP2 ........and you had on your machine prior to attemtping to d/l and install SP2...
when you used system restore ....the SP2 that you downloaded and didnt function was removed so you would have to go into control panel and click on folder options.....then view and scroll down untill you see show all hidden files ( tick it ) then go down lower until you see show hidden system files ......not recomended....tick it . Now you should be able to find what you are looking for.
But as Ihave just been through all this .....I would suggest ....just save all your important stuff ....format your drive and do a clean install of XP......then reinstall your anti virus .......then go to MS update site and GET the few update files needed to allow the D/L of SP2 and then D/L and install SP2 ....now things should work as they should....

Also, when I was looking through the add/remove programs list, I came across Service Pack 2, but it didnt have a size listed beside it, as all the other programs do...hmmm?

But just to get it straight, it would be much better to just reformat my drive and reinstall windows?

If I do this, I'll lose ALL of my files, correct?......Anyway I can prevent this from happening besides burning everything important to a cd?Sean.......Based on my experience with XP2......If your machine was doing funny things after installing XP2.....and it sounds like it was.....I would definately format it and reinstall XP and then get the SP2 upgrade.
I cant TELL you which SP2 hotfixes to remove as I dont know which ones were possibly causing the problem ....(when I was talking to MS .....they couldnt either )
I can tell you that after formatting and reinstalling XP and SP2 .....and then reinstalling the programs I had installed before ....that things seem to be running good.
Now as far as will you lose everthing ...yes you will ...but if you have a 2nd hard drive or even if you can borrow one from a friend and copy whatever files you need to it ....do the format and then copy them back.
Dont worry about any XP files ( because they will be all replaced and SP2 contains all the previous fixes etc. ) The other thing I found interesting was that I didnt have to reinstall any drivers for any of my periphials.....even my scanner and graphics card. I was impressed. Oh yes .......be sure and copy the WAB file (windows address book ) .....I forgot to do that and am still rebuilding it , but other than that all went well.
And yes you can copy to a cd if you wish .

I'm trying to copy a bunch of pictures from my computer onto a DVD. When I click on the picture and drag it to the DISC icon, it SAYS error reading file, cannot read from source file or disk. I cannot even view full screen. Now I have searched this forum for help with this, and it only concerns deleting the file, which I do not want to do yet, I want to copy first then delete. I have unlocker and it doesn't seem to cant to come up and help me with this. I have used the search funtion and it cannot find the pictures either. Running windows XP SP3. What software program are you trying to use for the burning process? truenorthI am using Roxio drag to disk. The photos are jpeg and run on a kodak easyshare systemMy wife uses both of the programs you are endeavoring to use. I will tell you how she does it.She does it either by one or the other of 2 different methods.
Method 1= drag and drop the "whole " file/folder with ALL the pictures that you want to burn to the icon. (not individual photos)
Method 2= open the roxio appropriate function window and "add" the photos one at a time from the file/folder source.
In using method 1 you will end up on the burned media with the file/folder and you will need to click on it from the "explore" function in order to see all the individual pictures.
Now another question --have you previously been able to do what you have been trying to do via the method you were using? Or are you trying to do this for the 1st time? truenorthNeither of these methods will work at present. Both of these methods did work at one time. Now when I open a folder,SAY 2010-10-11, the folder will open up normally and all the pictures will be there to view. Some/all (depending on which folder I open) have the little "electric arrow" symbol in the upper right hand corner. don't know what this means, maybe it's been zipped because of lack of HD space? I've explored this but have not found the answer yet except to say that all the pictures with this icon will not open full screen or can be accessed to copy etc. It comes up as the error cannot find the file it may have been moved or re-named etc. Efforts to find these have been unsucessful.Ok I have discussed this with my in house "expert" and some suggestions will now be MADE.
1.For the existing photos that you want to copy/transfer to your disc=try doing a "save-as" function to either Photo-shop (if you have it) or MS Paint (you will be able to do some modifications to the photo in each of those programs -more in Photo shop less in Paint). Then see if you can copy/transfer them via method 2 above to your disc.
2.To see if you can remove this problem for future transfers from your camera to the HDD.Assuming that you have the Kodak software.Uninstall (via add/remove programs" the Kodak software and then REINSTALL it.Take some pictures and see what happens when you try the transfer to disc. She feels that the issue is being caused by the Kodak software as opposed to the Roxio.
A suggestion of mine if you have a DVD_RW disc i would use that until you are certain that you can successfully achieve the desired result so you don't waste DVD discs.
Doing suggestion 2 above will not solve your current photo files issue but if it works it will solve the problem for the future. I doubt that your "electric arrow" photos are zipped as that action would not happen automatically. Please keep us posted as to your progress.truenorthThe "save as" funtion is not available when I click on the picture. I cannot open it with any program and I can't drag it anywhere because it can't find it. There is a "reconnect with missing pictures" option on the list. I am trying to allow a third party program to allow ACCESS to the address book to allow access that address book to generate e-mails from the program but I cant seem to find out how to change this? Any ideas?Since you have told us the name of this "third party program", how could anyone advise you on it? Have you investigated the possibility of exporting your address book to a FILE, perhaps in CSV format, and then importing it into the third party program? You could try deleting ALL your offline content, cookies, downloaded program files, temp files the lot. then reset your home page.

if the problem still occurs, i've only ever used one program which actually found and removed ALL of the stuff that gets SHOVED onto your PC because of the internet. it's called Spyder, or Spyderbite. and I've not come accross anything that can escape it.

i'm just looking for a download of it so i can give you the link.Pest Patrol is a very good program as well. Even Windows files donot escape from it. Just carefully examine the result list when USING this program.

I suggest you allow Ad-aware or Spybot Search & Destroy to load at Windows start before other programs load so they may be able to remove the culprit before it can load itself into the memory.

I ran Windows Update today, its been recommending 'Live essentials' for ages now, but today it worked!! What can i say! It asked me if i wanted everything or just to update what i've already got. I chose 'update what i've got' and it did it!!thanks for that info, reddevilggg. I've avoided it for ages, too, and was wondering about whether installing it would give me any options. I am a bit pessimistic though as your O/S is win 7 and ours is XP and the emphasis on the site is for Win 7.Well hoping that reddevilggg's experience would change our outcome i reattempted the update for XP. Same result as before. So it LOOKS like a change to Yahoo or something else will be the solution. I did try to verify the system requirements for the update as per Microsoft's criteria. We seem to meet most of them. I say most because there are a couple i don't recognize. As I'm sure most users of Microsoft products can attest to when you start to follow the messages of Microsoft to resolve a software issue it is akin to FALLING down a RABBIT hole. They appear to be never ending. Maybe they all terminate in Kansas but i just don't have enough time remaining in the hourglass to try and get to a "solution" as Microsoft defines it. truenorth

I noticed my comp has been acting slow again. Well particularly after my sis was on kazaa (which has now been DELETED) I hit ctrl alt delete and noticed two "lexplore" and an unknown program called "Junksoft", normally I wouldnt be worried about the "lexplores" but this TIME I was staring at my desktop with no browsers open.

When i run the install for East India Company Collection, the GAME itself installs normally, but when the installer runs the directx portion, i GET an error saying the .net framework v2.0.50727 fusion.dll is either not designed to run on widows or it contains an error.

Hi this is my first post!

I've got a Pentium 500Mhz, one 13GB harddrive,....etc quite old as you can tell

Anyway i got myself into a big trouble, wondering if there is anyone can help. Here it goes:

1- I spent many horrific hours tryin to install a fake copy of Windows XP. Midway via the installiation the computer SAYS theres an error on the CD, and restarts the PC. Then the installtion process begins automatically when the system BOOTS up. Then again detects an error on the CD, therefore restarts the PC again. As you can see this continues as a never ending cycle.
Anyway ENOUGH about that, i gave up installing Windows Xp and decided to install windows ME instead. Here is where the real problem begins (PLEASE HELP)

2- I formated the C drive first, by using one of my old boot startup disks, so that i can have a clean installation of Win ME. However to my horror, when i restarted the PC, the Windows XP Installaton still occurs.

3- to get around this problem i decided to use the Fdisk command from the boot disk and deleted the partition Drive or DOS drive and then create a new DOS partition or Logical Dos Drive. Then restarted the PC.

4- Finally, when all was goin so well, i ran setup.exe from the CD drive. and it asks for win ME to install. I say yes, but it then says 15728640 bytes are needed on the C drive. I am sure i got more space than that. Whats goin on?

I finally solved the problem. The reason why the computer wouldnt install Win ME, was because i forgot to format the system again so that the space turns into FAT space.

I have two networks with XP and Win98 machines co-existing...

In one, two 98SE (FAT32) machines and an XP Pro (NTFS) box are on a Netgear hub. Workgroup name is the same, machine names are different, IPX and TCP/IP are installed, and each machine has been assigned different hard IPs. Then the NetSetup disk made on the XP Pro machine was run on each 98SE box.

The XP box will recognise all three machines in Network Places, but only exchange files with one of the 98 machines. The 98 machine that the XP machine shares with, also recognises and shares both ways with both other machines. The other 98 machine cannot browse the network at all.

In this LAN, there is no shared Internet access. Each machine accesses the Internet with its own modem.

In the second situation, I have 2 Windows XP (NTFS) machines and a Win98SE (FAT32) machine on a Linksys wired router with a common broadband Internet access. Each machine has a third party firewall (ZoneAlarm or Sygate) set to accept 192.168.1.x as the trusted LAN, and is set to the same workgroup and unique machine names with TCP/IP, IPX, DLC32, and NetBIOS installed.

The two XP machines share without a problem, but neither sees the Win98SE machine. The Win98SE machine can sometimes be set to find and share with the XPs, but it's iffy at best. I can get Internet from all 3 machines, and I can access the folders on the ServU FTP server on one of the XP machines from the Win98 box with no problems, but I would like to access the printers as shared network devices and share files too.

Is this just a stupid 'M$ trying to force an unnecessary or inappropriate upgrade' thing, or is there something I'm missing? I havce set up several other WinXP and Win98SE mixed networks and they seem to share out just fine.I recall that quite a while ago, we used to try to link my Windows 98 (Not SE) machine to an XP machine via a hub. According to the store we bought our equipment at, this was not possible. (They were a professional store.) However, this has been at least 2 years ago.

There continues to be a lot of misinformation about changing the NetBIOS over TCP/IP setting. While the default NetBIOS setting is correct for normal network configurations, it's possible for it to be altered, and it costs nothing to make sure it's correct. NETBIOS over TCP/IP must be on for normal network browsing.
Oddly, the network with the one XP Pro box and the two Win98SE's has started to co-operate. The two XP Home boxes still ignore the 98SE box on the other...

I'm looking for additional ideas on getting it all to communicate, short of replacing the 98 machine (which I will not do for a while yet anyway...). When I updated the firewall on the Win98Se box on the second system again (last few days), I got more controls and could properly set the LAN IDS so it allows the other machines on the LAN to see the Win98SE box and vice versa. It seems to have been a bad update to ZoneAlarm; it seems to work OK now.

The first system (2 98s and an XP Pro) has its other problems. But the network troubles seem to have cleared for now...All's well that ends well...

Alright so IM using Windows XP SP3 and I have the 2009 version of Windows Live Messenger.

I've also downloaded Messenger Plus and have that installed.

Now the problem is this, I've set my scene to be something different cause I prefer dark colors for my contact list.

But every once in awhile, it'll set back to the original colors or the text of my status and names on my list gloes blurry.

Also I'll set my status to away or ANYTHING but online and it'll switch back to online AUTOMATICALLY after a while.

The settings arent set to do this so its not right.

I am looking to setup a BACKUP system for a friend. I need some suggestions as to how to get this done. The machine is a Windows 7 home version and what I had in mind is an external hard drive that would hold a few images of the machine. The drive could also be internal.

What I am looking to do is to have at least one full image and from there maybe a image that just gets updated so the process doesn't take that long during the week but at least once a week a full image is done. Lastly I would want this to be as automatic as possible.

Any IDEAS?

Acronis True Image is the best disk imaging software available, but it's not free. The best free alternative is Macrium Reflect. Both will do what you want.Sounds good.....

Images can be created in the BACKGROUND from within the OS. The only time the system needs to reboot or run from outside the OS is if the system partition is being restored.I know you didn't ask, but here is my typical backup schedule for most systems:

New image of the system partition created once a week to a second internal hd, keeping a maximum of four images but no fewer than two (in case one of the images is corrupt - it's rare but it happens - but VERY rare if you verify images during creation, which I do). Same process once a month to an external drive (rotating between two different external drives in the event something happens to one of them).

Images of other partitions to both an internal and external drive once every month or two (depending on criticality of data, etc).

Full image of entire drive on laptops once every three months (in addition to the above). This is only because my laptop drives are relatively small compared to the desktops.

There is the option of incremental backups, but I prefer the full images.

BTW, with True Image you can mount the image as a SEPARATE drive and extract any file(s) or folder(s) if you choose.This is sounding better and better.

I got to get my hands on a hard drive to use as a backup and then download true image.

The machine I need to set this up on has one PARTION that is about 950gigs (it has about 80gigs of real data) I want to setup another drive in the machine thats 1 TB and use it to hold the images. This machine is a friend's so I will only see it about once every 5 or 6 weeks. I will need to keep many images so I can roll things back to a point a few weeks back.

Hello- I just tried to save something to a disk (a game) for the first time and I can pull it up off of my computer but I don't know if I will be able to everywhere else?? No advantage at all. There are lots of good AV utilities - as long as you use it and it's always up to date you're fine.

Anyone out there who used this old intergraded software? I have old database files from years ago I need to get into. Using the 1987 version of EIO, they were created and saved on 3.5 floppies. The FILE extensions are .DEF, .DBF, .DBT, .NDX, .RP.

Using 3.5 floppy drive I was able to load and open the 1992 version. I find that the 1992 version wants to load a file *.WDF and does not recognize *.DBF, so obviously I am unable to open the old files.

When I tried to load the 1987 version, I get a "disk not formatted" error.

My OS is Windows XP SP3

Here are my questions:

First, would an old DOS program like EIO 1987 run under Windows XP?

If so, what can I do to get around the “not formatted” message?

If not, is there any place that will run old PROGRAMS and export the DATA to a common database format such as *.tab, *.csv, etc?

Should I hunt around for an old DOS computer or is there another inventive way to get this done?

Get an older PC with Windows 98. Get the original program. Trying to just read the data without the program can be a wild CHASE. It maybe a type of data base where not all the relevant material is in just one file. Which is common in database programs made in that era.

They can be run by a program such as Alcahol 120% or DAEMON. Or other programs that emulate virtual drives.

The .Cue is the SMALLEST file, which tells the Virtual drive what to do and the .Bin is the file that CONTAINS the data.OK, will go get alcohol or daemon then.

I have been trying to play an older game on a newer computer. It works, but crashes frequently. I have the latest patch I can FIND on the internet (Medieval Total war v1.1).

After some searching, it seems there's a problem with newer graphics cards. Some have suggested disabling AGP Texture acceleration, but when I load the DirectX diagnostic tool, it says "AGP texture acceleration enabled", but no WAY to turn it off.

Is there some other way to turn this off, or some other suggestions to GET the game to run without crashing?

I tried COMPATIBILITY MODES for XP, ME, Win 98, and Win 95...no improvements.

Computer has Core Duo Processor, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 video card, Windows Vista.

I suggest you donot try to do so until the problem is solved, you may end up having to reset your BIOS. I'm trying to understand how to do this. I have read that there are 3 methods: create a drive image, back-up to external HD or use on-line service. I do not understand the first one. I can buy or get free software which creates a drive image but where is that image stored, on an external HD?

I have WinXP which already has a back-up wizard installed. If I buy an external HD and use the WinXP back-up software, will that be as good as using a drive image software?

The MS Backup is more formal and requires understanding of how it works. It can, potentially, reduce the amount of drive space needed on the external drive for progressive incremental backups. If you use it that way. Good for a business environment where it may be necessary to recovery an old FILE from two or three weeks ago.

Thanks Geek. My HD is partitioned: C has 177GB, 21.1 used and D (recovery) has 8.83GB, 8.28 used. I'm not sure what is on D because I also have recovery CD's that were made when I bought the PC. Are these the right steps in the right order?

1. Buy new external HD

3. Create images of C and D drives

4. Transfer images to ext HD

You do not need third party software to partition a new drive (though you certainly can use a 3rd party app if you prefer). Simply do it through Disk Management.

You do not "transfer" the images to the external drive. When you create the image you create it on the external drive. The imaging software app will allow you to save the image to any connected medium you choose (cd, dvd, internal drive, external drive, etc).

Macrium Reflect is probably your best choice as a free app.

Size of the drive is up to you, as is the brand. Just stick with a name you know (ie, WD, Seagate, etc).

As for updating the backup, I use Acronis True Image so I'm not sure of Macrium's options. But with True Image you have the choice of creating a full backup or an incremental backup. The latter will append changes to the original image. I prefer to just create a new image weekly and I always keep the two or three most current images (just in case one of them is corrupted). When you create images be sure to use the "VERIFY" option. It will take longer, but it confirms the image is both accurate and good.

I am trying to run the game doom 3 on windows xp, but before it starts an ERROR message come up saying i need to disable my cd/dvd EMULATION software first. I have been trying MANY things and they havent worked.Did you disable CD/DVD emulation? What kind of software is running?

I run DAEMON CD/DVD Emulation and it does not show me any errors, even when playing Doom 3.

I have my windows xp disc but I have lost the box that had the product key on it, can anyone tell me how to find out what it is? I had been using Adobe for a few days.. and then when I tried to use it.. it would freeze. So I uninstalled it thinking I could install it again.. well i couldnt.. wouldn't let me install it.. I downloaded it a couple times for a couple different sites and the installation wizard wouldnt work. So I thought it may be the program itself, and I thought I had it on a disk, so when I tried to install the disk, again the installation wizard wouldnt work well i really NEED adobe and i need to be able to install some things.. so anyone have any ideas?Lesley......First of all .....what operating system are you using . Then which Adobe product are you trying to install ? If you have XP .....have you received SP?
What you may have to do is remove any Adobe installer present in your pc.....or completely remove WHATEVER Adobe program you were using . Then try to DOWNLOAD again.

I NEED help badly!
I currently run Norton Systemworks 2003. My licence for weekly virus definition updates expires in two weeks. In order to save money, instead of renewing the licence for the current version I just bought another copy of Systemworks 2003 (a NEW licence, another year). I have to uninstall the current copy on my computer to install the new ONE and the only way to do this is through the Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel. (I run Windows Me). The problem is something happened to the Add/Remove Programs app in my control panel and Norton Systemworks 2003 is no longer listed! (It was originally. I don't know what happened to it). Is there any way I can have Windows do a scan to re-establish the programs on my computer? I tried to reinstall Systemworks and it says that I must uninstall the current version before I can install the new one. Any help will be appreciated.

Some things I can do, some things evade me. Using N'lite to create a WINXP OS disk with the drivers for my Gateway with SATA is one that I tried several times but can't seem to make it WORK.

Is there a source for a disk already prepared for WinXP? or is there a place to send my OS disk and have one created?

When I previous attempted this I was mistaken to believe that the computer used to make the ISO had to be WinXP. Of course I have Vista.

I will attempt this again with your encouragement.

Another question: I also have Win2000Pro; Win2003Server; and NT4. Are any or all or none of these candidates for N'lite treatment.

Hate to be a stickler on these old softwares, but my main programs are AutoCAD2000 and AutoCAD2000LT. I tried using the wizard to emmulate early Win OS in Vista with very poor performance.

I'll keep you posted, but it might be the weekend before I try....

I have installed on my computer O&O DiskImage. So now I've been studying Help section of this software. However, still some things are vaque for me. I'd like to make an image just of my settings and installed programs (third party apps) from my primary HD (C). I know there is some option that allows me to choose certain folders to be a PART of a disk image but I don't know which ones to choose so my computer settings and programs would have been kept.
Should have been chosen installation folders (Program Files, Program Files (X86) in the root of drive C to retain my third party apps ? Really don't know. What to select then to KEEP my computer settings ?...
Anyway, I wouldn't even mind to make a disk image of my all data 370 GB to avoid that hassle. But my concern is: am I thinking right ? Let me put it that way.
Let's say my hard drive has gotten down. After reformatting/or BUYING and installing a new hard drive I had installed OS from my OS Windows Installation CD. Once installation of OS has been completed, then I connect my external HD on which is backed up my last disk image of 370 GB data. And then I restore my system to the previous healthy state from the mentioned disk image. Am I thinking right ? Or not ?

What is a "Rescue CD" creation option including with a disk image software ? What is this for ? Is this the same maybe what OS Windows Installation CD ? This one is vaque for me too.
As you can SEE, guys, there's some confusion going through my head about this subject.

Would anybody place some brief explanation about this subject in layman's language , please ?

Thanks.Create separate partition for the data which is probably most of the 370GB. Then image C-Drive (OS & installed apps) which will be 10-20GB. Then backup Data partition separately.

I have a pent 3 533 MHZ and a few MONTHS ago my computer was formatted Now whenever I play anything graphic in full screen it will crash giving me a blue screen then it will just rebot I have replaced the vid card and that did not work Some games I can play window but as soon as I full screen them it will crash.

valBoot in Safe Mode, open your Display applet, and turn the hardware acceleration (Settings, Advanced) all the way down. Try this in normal desktop first. Then SEE if the problem persists.I turned down my hardware acceleration, It does not crash anymore but I can only play windowed (will not allow full screen) is there any other sugguestion that might solve the problem. I would really love to play games in full screen.

For a brief second when crashing it flashes the dreaded blue screen of death. It is so brief you almost don't notice it. If anyone has any more ideas. That would be great.

A customer has a MAINFRAME running RS232 ports
Once a week he takes a Screen & Printer 300m to another building, connecting back to the mainframe using a Multiplexer & Line DRIVERS, he's now experiencing problems with this conection THOUGH everything works fine when at the host end

I know its all antiquated but some people are not for change.

THe terminal connects through the Line Drivers at the remote end to the Host Mainframe so the Terminal Inputs data to the mainframe as though it was connected directly

My suspicion is the Line Drivers or Multiplexers have failed, I will know more after a site visit on MondayEek. I thought that might be the case. I haven't seen that kind of kit since I was at university. You could consider selling this user the notion that supporting such systems is far more expensive than supporting newer kit...

When sending a message there is a 5 second delay where the WHOLE program freezes and it also happens on AOL 9.0.. I was wondering if anyone knows whats going no? I turned off auto-scan on the virus protection software and tried it again but it had no AFFECT. THANKS in advance.
