Well, to say the least, I am disappointed . My old Dell Dimension PC with a Pentium 3 and 256 MB of RAM plays Sim city 4 fine, if a little slow. My new computer ,that I built myself , with an Athlon 64 X2, 2 GB of RAM and a GeForce 7 video card does not load Sim City . I have tried to install it at least 5 times. The installation isn't the problem- IT JUST WON"T LAUNCH!!!! I put the disc in and the box pops up with options, so naturally I choose play. Then nothing. The box goes away after I push play, and nothing else happens . I have tried to install it to a different directory with the same results. I don't have the correct drivers for my DVD drives, but I don't think that's the problem since all my other games play fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!! What Operating System are the two computers?

Also, I need drivers for a Lite-On DVD C LH52C1P and a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-109Well, I gave my old computer to my sister, but she's nice enough to let me play sim city on it. So for now I will play it on her computer and see if I can't figure out the problem.Optical drives don't need drivers.

Does SC4 have any "patches"? I this just SC4 or the "deluxe" edition?I THOUGHT they didn't need drivers, but I wasn't sure.
It's just Sim City 4, not Deluxe and no expansion pack. I haven't tried to download the patch (kinda' slow since I have DIAL up) but I will try to download them.I had a similar problem running SIMCITY4. I think it is a common bug. A few things to try:

1) Get latest drivers for MB,Soundcard and Video Card
2) Patch the game
3) check the web for fixes to this issue...sorry, can't remember where i WENT to for this

When i play games like CoD4 it will say 86 ping then IAM running and all of a sudden i start lagging and i look at my ping again and it says 900 it happens in alot of games i play can anyone on help. I downloaded and paid for "lode runner, the legend continues" by Sierra. I am having problems getting it to finish installing. I read about and downloaded "DOSBOX", but have no idea what to do with it. my os is xp professional. this is killing me. I finally find lode runner and cant play it.Ok this may take a minute...

Ok first thing install Dosbox... LETS pretend you have DONE that.

Now you need to make a folder for your games. I call mine 'oldgames' create a folder called oldgames and save it to the C drive. So when you click on Computer you will see on your hard drive a folder named you guessed it oldgames.

Now save your game into that folder. Make sure it's name is less than 8 characters.

Now start up dosbox

type mount c c:\oldgames

type c:

you should now have C:\

type CD yourgamesname
cd means change directory then put a space and type in the games name that you have saved in oldgames. (no longer than 8 characters)

It should then look like this
C:\yourgamesname>
You have now changed the directory.

Ok the most important bit. The game must have a .EXE file. Type in the name of that file not the .exe bit just the file name. And............. BINGO! Jobs a goodun.

I live in an apartment with my roomie and we are on the apartment's LAN connection. We both want to play Warcraft III together online but although we are unable to JOIN eachother's games. We can join other people's games, just not eachothers. It says we are unable to connect. We were ABLE to play Company of HEROES (a similar game) together with no problem like this at all. It says it might be a firewall or router problem ( I turned off my firewall and added it as a program to allow and the problem PERSISTS ). I have no idea what a router is or how to fix it if that might be the case. PLEASE help me we wanna make this work bad.

Thanks.If you do not know much about networking/routers, I would call your ISP and have them route you to the correct people to make sure your router and modem are properly configured. They can walk you step by step through the process. How are your PC's actually connected to the network? Where does your internet cable hook up to? Same questions for your roomie's PC.

I have recently developed a disgusting issue of flickering and screen tearing on my computer, this only happens when I play games, ANY game. It started when I downloaded the dx11 update for total war shogun 2 where the words and user interface would flicker as if struggling between hi and low resolutions, whereas actually gameplay is where the tearing comes in. At first I though nothing of it and carried on. I then went to play company of heroes which ran brilliantly on MAX setting and now I get as previously stated a terrible flicker in user interface and screen tearing EVERYWHERE else. I have been up and down google trying to find an answer but so far nothing has helped. For the record I uninstalled TW:S2 from my cpu as well as deleted the dx11 update, my drivers are fully updated at 11.6b, I have V-sync forced on in Catalyst control center, I have reinstalled my Graphics drivers. And one last thing to point out is that this gets really game breaking BAD when in fullscreen and when windowed its not noticable if not gone. Any suggestions?

Would like to make an update; tried playing company of heroes again along with the GRAPHICAL flickering and tearing, I've now encountered blackness across anywhere but where my screen starts me at, meaning that everything is black and the only thing that I can see are the DOTS representing unit cover and other unit selections. Just throwing out a question here but how are you handling your 'very heavy' overclock? 2.8 to 3.0 yeah but 2.8 to 3.25... you may have issues that you made yourself.What happens when you don't overclock?

It would INVOLVE making an illegal copy of said game and it's against the rules to do that here.And its not possible ANYWAY, look up on the app store for your phone there may be a SIMILIAR game there, or even the game you were after (This VERSION is legal and in a TESTED format for your device)

I have TRYING to play Bloodrayne 1 on my pc and am having trouble. The problem is that when I play the game the in game cutscenes run too fast and the audio gets cut off because of it.

Also when I first start the game a box comes up saying that windows is reporting 0.0 mb of FREE swap disk space. I dont know if this is related to my above problem at all. I do know that I have played this game MANY times before on this rig so I dont know why it is doing this. Any help WOULD be greatly appreciated.

If that fails, I'm thinking it has SOMETHING to do with VSYNC/framebuffer issues.I increased it another two gigs but that had NO effect at all. It still says the same message when you start up the game. The vsync or frame buffer issues I wouldnt know how to correct at all.

The weird thing is Ive played this game before on this pc with no trouble so why is it doing this now?Have you edited the graphics card settings on your PC via the nVidia Settings in the system tray before?

So I have played Fallout 3 GOTY EDITION on my laptop, through Steam, before many TIMES with no problems like this one. My computer recently crashed and I had to reinstall all my files including my fallout 3 files. I started playing the GAME for about 2 hours and then I saved as usual. I bought Virtual Villagers 3 : The Secret City about a month ago and just yesterday it started acting funny. I closed out the game and tried to open it back up and it would say "cannot display the web page" so I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it and now it is not even showing up when i open it. I have my Windows Task Manager open and I can see it pop up in the "processes" and "applications" sections when I open the game, then it disappears. Ok so I have no idea how this happen but when I am on the internet the advertisements are on the oppisite side of the page and you can't click on them because as soon as the mouse TOUCHES them they start blinking on and off untill u MOVE the mouse away. You can check these by going to Start --> RUN --> Type DXDIAG and press Enter.i did what you said and tested everything. It alkl seems like it is working i DONT understand this issue i am having with this game. If so, perhaps you could try System Restoring to a date before this problem started happening.

This would most likely indicate that your video card doesn't support Shader Model 2.0. I can't say for sure though, because the model you listed (98250) is not a valid model number for ATI Radeon cards. Double check your model number. Should only be 4 digits (like 9600, 9550, etc.)

Hi guys i have a lil, well when i mean a lil i mean a massive BLOODY problem. For some reason or another starcraft 2 has started playing up, it has never done this before but just started recently for some odd reason..

This only seems to happen with starcraft and no other games.

Your speed doesn't directly affect your ping.
Instead, look at your connection - if it's wireless, go wired. If it's wired, try to use a shorter cable, possibly a better quality one.
On the ISP side there's nothing you can do really, at peak times you'll get HIGH ping because more people are on.

Don't know if I am in the RIGHT place. Like to play this game but it will not let me save the game after a session. Must start at beginning each time. I know this is a long SHOT, but I really want to find this game. Here goes.

I rememeber playing this game that I THINK came in a 10 pack with games like Chuck Yeagers Air Comabt and PGA golf.

The game had you play as a group of agents that would take missions across the globe. The levels were basically a part of the WORLD map. I remember South Africa was the hardest level. You could choose the design of your group.

The game levels were from overhead and each of your untis was a small figure, kinda like that ninja TURTLES 2 video game that was so hard to beat. I remember one of the most powerful weapons was a flamethrower and MINI gun. You could kill civilians, but enemy agents were the problem. Each mission had different objectives like interroagate or save, etc.

If this rings any bells please, please, please post what you think the name is. It was for mac and was a real old school game, not one of the most popular.

Just paid $50 to do a class on Webkinz and the computer froze while TRYING to complete the class and I didn't get the class credit either because they think I LEFT on purpose and then failed me the class. I played this game back around 1999 or so, although I'm not sure if the game is older than that. From what I remember I controlled a male character and tried to collect different sized and colored balls on the board. The balls bounced around the screen. I can't remember much else, but if I think of anything else, I'll edit the post.

Edit: Sorry a little BIT more info. I think the first level starts out with one large ball and then when you touch it, it breaks down into two smaller balls, and then you touch that and it broke down again. After it got so SMALL it just disappears. If i remember correctly the ball was green. I think the rainbow colored balls were some special ball that gave you some sort of power up. We're going to need a LOT more information than that.im not sure how this information can help

Laptops are designed for office work and working on the move, not gaming or anything graphically intensive, so this is why they all come with average graphic capability.

I ordered a few new parts for my computer. 128 mg 9200 radeon, 128 2700 ddr ram, 1.2 ghz duron processor. But for city of heros to run, it says it takes 256 meg ram. Think it will still work? Trying to save me some money.It depends what your definition of work is. Chances are you will be able to load a level but the framerates will be very low. Ive installed and reinstalled fallout 3 four times now and i keep having trouble with certian areas like abandoned houses and sewers where my game just freezes. ive tried the graphics on low, med and high and they all freeze in the same area. I know its not my PC over heating cause ive watched the temps.

IM at a loss here and would like to finish playing this game.

first, I think you added the lines in the shortcut of MaximizeWindow...

remember if you did set your game resolution at 1024 x 768, the Windows Desktop resolution should be at 1024 x 768

now right click on MaximizeWindow shortcut and click properties, in "target" box, the LAST line should be this : \MaximizedWindow.exe"

what you need to do is this \MaximizedWindow.exe" 10 1280 1024

10 : is the timeout (the game won't maximized until the dos box disappears)

1280 and 1024 are the resolution set to make the windowed disappear (it should be set a one res higher)

so if your game res is 1280 x 1024, your Desktop res should be the same, and you will write the next big res in the MaximizedWindow shortcut...

to LAUNCH the game, first click on the game shortcut, the menu should appear, go to options and select Windowed mode...

when you want to click on play, launch MaximizedWindow shortcut and then click play, depending on the timeout you gave the program to close the window mode will disappear.

of course every time you need to launch Fallout 3, you should launch MaximizedWindow before it, it could be a pain in the *** but it helps

I owned a game called Batman: Arkham Asylum on Windows XP. Its not about the game. Thing is, the game didn't work and I did a serious blunder. I deleted the game INSTEAD of uninstalling it. And Add or Remove Programs, that silly FOOL, thinks it's still on the computer. Later, when I got the working version of the game, the PC prevented me from installing it as according to it, it was already on the computer. I try to uninstall it, and it says that its files are missing. Like, duh!
Please, help me get this game back as it is really awesome (and costly too ).If you have another computer or can use a friend's computer, you could try installing it on that computer (doesn't have to be able to run it). Copy the installation onto a DVD or external drive, then copy those files to the location they should be at on your computer and then uninstall it from both computers.

I have an online game called Eden Eternal saved on my COMPUTER. Whenever I CLICK on the game LAUNCHER it says http cannot connect.I have been having this problem for 2 weeks and yet to find a solution.I have already contacted the technical help from the game but they basically BRUSHED me off. Hello, I recently bought a new computer with Windows 7 and the preformance from the computer itself is fine but I believe something is up with the wireless.

Problem: Webpages and music seem to load and work fine, but when playing large games such as League of Legends or Minecraft(if you call that large) I experience times when my latency is very high and my character is slow to react or in the case of Minecraft people seem to stop and flash across the map. Also team fortress 2 failed for me with RANDOM freezes making me quit.

Temporary "Fix": One wierd thing that happens is that if I play League of Legends with Skype open and I'm talking to someone or thier talking to me (a conversation is GOING on) the latency significantly lowers from somewhere 300+ to the low 20-50s. Have not tried this fix on minecraft yet but I dont want to depend on this every time.

Fixes I have tried: I have tried resetting the router (D-Link dir-655 or something like that) Resetting my network, Attempted to completely disable norton dont know if I successfully did or not, and some minor fixes such as defragmenting and using CCleaner

Note: My brother/father/mother/my old laptops internet were perfectly fine noting that my old laptop would run minecraft with perfect character speeds.

I have done a Pingtest and Speedtest Both giving me a grade of A and as I recall I had 14-15mbps download and 20-30 mbps upload speed with 0 packetloss and around 7 ping with 1ms of jitter

I have tried moving my computer around the house with insignificant changes, but plugging into the router itself for an inconclusive 10 minute period SEEMED to fix the problem

Please dont ask me to delete Norton like on other forums, because I'd rather keep it while I can, and I'm just looking for an alternative to getting a huge wire reaching all the way to my router

Also, what games have you tried that failed to run on LAN? Are you sure you have the correct network protocols installed for whatever games you want to play (most use TCP/IP now, but some older ones used IPX/SPX).

OK my I'm trying to play Starcraft II on my laptop but the game crashes and my laptop specs are:

Alright, my problem is that I originally was able to play Starcraft II without any problems, then one day I decided to get Crysis on my laptop so I downloaded the latest GT 130 PhysX Drivers. So I am now able to play Crysis, but a few days ago I decided that I wanted to play Starcraft II again so I started it up and was able to get to the main menu, but anytime I press "Campaign" or "Tutorial" buttons the game crashes and gives me error file which I have attached. Any one can help me remedy this problem it would be greatly appreciated!

The newer nVidia drivers have special settings for StarCraft 2 (sc2.exe) and the StarCraft Replay Viewer (sc2_rp.exe) for a performance boost, but nVidia is aware this has also caused crashing issues for some. Has been reported by thousands of people using the newer nVidia drivers playing Starcraft II. It's a well known issue.
