U have DONE well.
=>X^2-x-6=0
=>x^2-3x+2x-6=0
=>X(x-3)+2(x-6)=0
=>(x-3)(X+2)=0

In first term,
=> x-3=0
=> X= 3

In second term,
=> x+2=0
=>X =-2
