LET x, y be two NUMBERS

GIVEN, their difference is 3
=) x - y = 3 --------1)

Their product is 54
That is , xy = 54

x + y =  √[ (x-y)2 +4xy ]

= √ (9 + 216)  = 15

x + y =  15 ----------(2)

On solving  1 and 2 we get,


x = 9 and y = 6.
