1.

Write the cleaning action of soap and detergent

Answer» A soap contains to parts one is the hydrocarbons part And another is the ionic part. The HC part is hydrophobic in nature (water repelling) and the ionic part is hydrophillic in nature(water attracting) . The hydrocarbons part mix with the oil and dirt and the ionic part wants to remain on the surface of the water. In this way a cluster is formed with the HC part attached with the dirt and polar end on the surface of water forming a micelles. These colloidal particles don\'t settle down because of the nonioninc repulsion and remains suspended. Hence when the clothes and are rinsed in soap water or beaten with stone or scrubbed with brush these particles come to the water and hence the clothes get cleaned.
