Vegetative propagation => The method of GROWING plants from their vegetative parts like roots,stems or leaves etc is known as vegetative propagation.

Ex:- Rose, Sugarcane, Banana, Strawberry etc. are grown by vegetative propagation method.

  • Plants produced by vegetative propagation have flowers and fruits much EARLIER than plants produced by SEEDS.
  • It is easy, fast method and can be used for propagation of plants which cannot be produced by seeds.
  • The plants produced by vegetative propagation bears similar Characteristics as their parents.

  • Since, plants are genetically very similar and almost identical,no NEW VARIATION can be generated.
  • Plants can still suffer from various plants diseases.
