Answer» ANSWER:--
◆ DECOMPOSITION REACTION:- The reaction in which a single substance decomposes to GIVE two or more substances is called Decomposition Reaction.
◆ There are three types of decomposition reaction
● Thermal Decomposition ● Electrolytic Decomposition ● Sunlight Decomposition
1. Thermal Decomposition:- When the decomposition reaction carried by heat is called thermal decomposition.
example = 2FeSO4 ---- Fe2O3 + SO2 + SO3
2. Electrolytic Decomposition:- When the decomposition reaction carried by electricity is called electrolytic decomposition.
Example = H2 --- 2H2 + O2
3. Sunlight Decomposition:- When the decomposition reaction carried by sunlight is called sunlight decomposition.
Example = 2Ag Br ---- 2Ag + Br2
