| Answer» EXPERIMENTALLY that carbondioxide is released during respiration take a conical flask, a beaker, a corkwith a hole, a glass tube bent at RIGHT angles at two places, a small testtube, KOH solution, thread, coloured water.Step 1Place some germinating gram or peaseeds in the conical flask. Insert the shorter end of the glass tube throughthe hole in the cork and fix it on the conical flask.Step 2Hang a test tube containing KOHsolution inside the conical flask with the help of a thread. Fix the cork.Step 3Take coloured water in the beakerand keep the longer end of the glass tube dipped inside it. Apply some Vaselineon the rim of the conical flask to make it airtight. Note the level of water inthe tube.Step 4After an hour observe and note therise in the water level without disturbing the APPARATUS. Water level RISES inthe bent tube.This shows that CO2 is produced bythe germinating seeds during respiration.The germinating seeds respire andproduce CO2. The KOH solution absorbs it. Due to this a VACUUM is created inthe conical flask. The air in bent glass tube moves to the conical flask. As aconsequence the water level rises in the bent tube. | |
