Answer» With the fall of Chalukya dynasty, Rashtrakutas came to power. Thus, Rashtrakutas also ruled over some parts of South India. Rashtrakutas mainly ruled in Manyakheta. Rashtrakuta means the head of a state or area. It is believed that the head of this dynasty belonged to Rashtrakuta community and hence this dynasty was named after him. Govind III was the most powerful king of this dynasty. He made his rule powerful in the Deccan region in the 8th century.
