A Report on Hazards of Overuse of Mobile Phone

A recent survey done in 20 schools and at 5 busy roads of the city has revealed that 4 out of 10 students felt that their studies were adversely affected by overuse of mobile phones, 6 out of 10 vehicle driver agree that use of mobile phone while driving is dangerous and led to accidents.
No doubt, mobile phones have brought in a miraculous revolution in the field of communication. This tiny gadget is very useful for professionals and businessmen. People can be in constant and immediate contact with their loved ones and keep themselves well-informed though a number of mobile-enabled services.

However, as is true for any other thing, the overuse of mobile phone is harmful in many ways. For students, it disturbs and diverts them during their study hours at school and home. Use of social networking sites without discretion has resulted in many unpleasant and undesirable incidents, especially with girls. Use of mobile phones while driving and use of earphones while on roads or railway crossing has resulted in many injuries and deaths. Moreover, overuse of mobile phones also causes hearing problems as harmful radiations emitted by mobile phones has been found to be deadly.

हाल ही में बीस विद्यालयों एवं पाँच यातायात सघन सड़कों पर किए सर्वेक्षण से ज्ञात हुआ है कि 10 में से 4 विद्यार्थियों ने अनुभव किया कि मोबाइल फोन के अत्यधिक प्रयोग से उनकी पढ़ाई पर प्रतिकूल प्रभाव पड़ रहा है। जबकि 10 में से 6 वाहन-चालकों ने यह माना कि वाहन चलाते समय मोबाइल फोन का प्रयोग खतरनाक है वे इससे दुर्घटनाएँ होती हैं।

नि:सन्देह, मोबाइल फोन ने संचार के क्षेत्र में एक चमत्कारी क्रान्ति ला दी है। यह छोटा-सा उपकरण बुद्धिजीवियों व व्यवसायियों के लिए बहुत उपयोगी है। लोग अपने प्रियजनों से निरन्तर तथा तत्काल सम्पर्क में रह सकते हैं व स्वयं को विभिन्न मोबाइल सेवाओं द्वारा भली-भाँति सूचित रख सकते हैं।

तथापि, जैसे अन्य किसी भी वस्तु के विषय में सही है, मोबाइल फोन को अत्यधिक उपयोग अनेक प्रकार से नुकसानदायक है। विद्यार्थियों के लिए मोबाइल का अत्यधिक उपयोग उन्हें उनकी पढ़ाई के समय स्कूल या घर पर उनका ध्यान भटकाता है। सामाजिक नेटवर्किंग साइट्स का बिना सोचे-समझे किया उपयोग अनेक अप्रिय व अवांछनीय परिणामों का कारण बना है, विशेषकर लड़कियों के साथ। वाहन चलाते समय मोबाइल का प्रयोग व ईयरफोन का सड़क या रेल-फाटकों पर प्रयोग अनेक घायल होने या मृत्यु होने का कारण बना है। इसके अतिरिक्त मोबाइल फोन के अत्यधिक प्रयोग से: श्रवण-समस्याएँ होती हैं तथा मोबाइल फोन से उत्सर्जित विकिरण एक जानलेवा खतरा माना। गया है।
