Write a detailed note on trikonasana. |

Answer» Trikonasana 'The triangle' pose is one of the important asanas in Hatha Yoga. It provides a long stretch to many muscles in the body. Steps to perform/technique (a) In this asana one stands erect with the feet about three feet apart. (b) The right foot is turned to the right side. (c) Arms are stretched sideways and raised to the shoulder level so that they are in one straight line. (d) Bend to the right taking care not to bring the trunk forward. (e) Simultaneously, the right knee is bent slightly. (f) The right hand is placed on the right foot, keeping the two arms in line with each other. The left palm is turned forward. (g) Turn to the upright position with the arms on the sides in a straight line. Benefits: (a) It tones up the body. (b) It affects the muscles on the sides of the trunk, the waist and the back of the legs. (c) It stimulates the nervous system and alleviates depression. (d) It reduces obesity. (e) It also strengthens the pelvic area and tones up the reproductive organs. (f) It helps in reducing body fat around waist. |
