Rosemary is a young rich woman. She shops in fashionable and expensive parts of Paris. An antique dealer shows her a small enamelled box. She covets but asks to put it for her. Coming out of the shop into the rain, she meets with a poor young girl who asks for the price of a cup of tea. Rosemary invites the girl back home. She gives the girl tea and sandwiches, whilst she herself smokes cigarettes. Her husband Philip points out that the girl is remarkably pretty, but the relationship is not desirable. Rosemary gives the girl some money and asks her to go away. Then she asks her husband if she can have the enamelled box. However, what she really wants to know from him is if she is pretty or not.

रोजमेरी एक धनवान नवयुवती महिला है वह पेरिस के फैशनपरस्त वे मंहगे भागों में खरीददारी करती है। प्राचीन वस्तुओं का विक्रेता उसे तामचीनी का एक छोटा बॉक्स दिखाता है वह ललचा जाती है और बॉक्स को उसके लिए रखने के लिये कह देती है। वर्षा में दूकान से बाहर आने पर एक गरीब जवान लड़की से उसका सामना होता है जो उससे एक प्याला चाय का मूल्य मांगती है। रोजमेरी लड़की को घर आने का निमंत्रण देती है। वह लड़की को चाय और सेण्डविच खाने को देती है जब कि वह स्वयं सिगरेट पीती रहती है। उसका पति फिलिप संकेत करता है कि वह लड़की उल्लेखनीय रूप से सुन्दर है, किन्तु उससे सम्बन्ध रखना अवांछित है। वह उस लड़की को कुछ धन देकर चले जाने को कहती है। जिसके बाद रोजमेरी अपने पति से पूछती है। कि क्या वह तामचीनी का बॉक्स ले सकती है, किन्तु वास्तव में वह उससे जो जानना चाहती है वह यह कि क्या वह सुन्दर दिखती है या नहीं।
