Answer» 1. 2. Farmers can install rainwater harvesting units in their farms and dig ponds and wells for storing the rainwater. Nowadays farmers are started using heavy duty land leveler for flood irrigation. It is essential to maintain ground water table in order to make the agriculture in India monsoon free. Due to lack of knowledge, farmers and manufacturers overlook the problems associated with the irrigation system like clogged pores, leakage in pipes which also results in loss of water. Some of the irrigation techniques that our farmers can use are surface irrigation, basin irrigation, canal irrigation, sprinkler irrigation etc. However owing to lack of education and knowledge among the farmers, these techniques are not used. But to make Indian agriculture monsoon independent, irrigation system need to be developed with the use of advanced technology. 3. Indeed, Indigo still gets cultivated in India but only in certain parts of the country. It’s mostly a niche market because using synthetic dye is much more convenient for textile industryTamil Nadu is the leading state as far as natural indigo production is concerned at present time (in India, of course). |
