Every time we blink, your eyelids spread a cocktail of oils and mucous secretions ACROSS the surface of the eye to keep your globes from drying out. The eyelid provides suction across the eye from the tear DUCT to the ENTIRE eyeball to keep it from drying out. Blinking also protects the eye from irritants.
