Why third ionisation energy of fe is lower than Mn |
|
Answer» electron that will be lost from MN will be from the half filled 4s1 orbital but in CASE of Iron it will be lost from a much more STABLE 4s2 orbital hence it requires a little BIT more amount of energy. Therefore the Second ionization potential/energy for iron is greater than that of Manganese (Mn). |
