Why the star is twinkle at night? Why the planet does not twinkle? |
|
Answer» Star emit their own light and they twinkle due to atmospheric refraction. When the star light enters the earth atmosphere it vets refracted at different levels due to difference in the air density of different levels of atmosphere. Hence when the star comes more towards us it seems brighter than it comes less towards us. Thus we see as if the stars are twinkling at night.Planets do not twinkle because they are very large in size and are more closer to the earth as compared to stars. Planets can be called as point sized sources of light .various parts of the planets emit light in such a way that the average of the dimmer and the brighter effect is zero. Hence planets do not twinkle. Stars are too far away as they appear and the earth\'s air has many layers with different refractive index which keeps changing so when the light of star come to tje earth\'s atmosphere it keeps deviating so it appears like they are twinkling and the planets are closer to earth than the stars so they do not appear to twinkle Far away=more twinkle.Closer= less twinkle.Hope it helps you ? because of refraction in atmisphere......and stars are more away from our earth then other planets |
