Why potassium chloride is soluble in water but insoluble in carbon tetrachloride

Answer»

completely ionic compound . On the other hand , CCL4 which ACTS as a solvent ,is pure covalent compound . We know that ,POLAR solute is dissolved in polar sovent and non polar solute is DISSOLVE in non polar solvent . Since KCL is completely polar and CCl4 is non polar , hence KCl is insoluble in CCl4 .
