Why pituatory gland is known as master endocrine gland?? |

Answer» The pituitary gland or the master gland controls the secretion of hormones from the other endocrine glands, including the thyroid, adrenal etc.*It secretes the hormones which induce gamete formation in the gonads, testes and ovaries.*It also secretes the growth hormone which plays an important role in the growth of adolescents\xa0*Main hormones secreted by pituitary gland include, Growth hormone, TSH, FSH, LH, ACTH, MSH, Vasopressin and Oxytocin.\xa0 earlier it was believed that pituatary gland is the master gland because it controlled the working of other glands and their secretion.... although later we discovered that it is hypothalamus of brain tht controls all our glands and their secretions including the pituatary gland..... |
