Why is water hyacinth termed as the terror of bengal? |
|
Answer» Water HYACINTH was brought by the BRITISH to India for ornament purposes. Unknown to them though, it has the ability to grow rapidly in marshy bodies of water, which were common in Bengal. Due to this, it COVERED the surface in a few days, causing widespread famines and the death of fishes, which had a DEEP impact on the people as they mostly relied on RICE and fish. |
