Why is naf added to blood drawn forblood sugar estimation?

Answer»

Hy there,
NaF, or Sodium fluoride is an ANTICOAGULANT, it prevents the clotting of BLOOD in the tube. It is also usually coated on the walls of the test-tube to prevent clotting of blood. This HELPS in storage of blood for a long DURATION.
Other anticoagulants are- Acid citrate dextrose, EDTA, etc.
HOPE it helps.
Thanks.
