Why is mitosis called equational division and meiosis called reductional division? |
|
Answer» Explanation: because in mitosis each daughter cell gets EQUAL SETS of chromosomes that the parent cell has so the number of chromosomes is equally divided and so it is called equational DIVISION while in meiosis, the daughter cell gets only half the sets of chromosomes that the parent cell has so the number of chromosomes is REDUCED hence it is called REDUCTIONAL division |
