Why is it more difficult to walk on sand than concrete? |
|
Answer» tion:this is because sand particles are very loosely BOUND in COMPARISON to concrete particles. In fact concrete particles are attached to each other but sand particles are not. This decreases the reaction force being applied by the surface of sand and it CAUSES the particles to move away on stepping on it.However the concrete remains TOGETHER and this ALLOWS it to exert a force enough to support the weight of the person, and hence the person is able to walk on it.Also the concrete particles cannot move apart as they are bonded with each other. |
