Answer» Because when it\'s dry, it do not liberate H+ ions. Colour of litmus paper changes only when it come in contact of hydrogen ions and hydrogen ions produced only when HCl gas comes in contact with water. therefore dry HCl doesn\'t change the colour of blue litmus paper. Dry HCl does not change the colour of the blue litmus paper as being dry they do not liberate H+ ions however aquous soln of HCl does. |
