Why does the narrator say, "I landed and was not sorry to walk away from the old Dakota...."?

When narrator landed . Then on that time narrator do not tell thanks to old Dakota for safely landing when narrator has only one tank for fly . But after time he think that the black aeroplane helped him and his old Dakota from storm safely . So the narrator said this statement.
Because he was delighted to land safely out of black stromy cloud
The narrator was not sorry to walk away from the old dakota because miraculously he had landed safely from the terrible storm with the help of the pilot of black aeroplane....?
Narrator said this because he could not thank the pilot in black aeroplane who helped him..
