Why does the container become hot when water is added to calcium oxide |
|
Answer» Because when we add water to calcium oxide it releases a lot of energy. It is a highly exotermic reaction. Bacause lot of heat is produced in this reaction .it is a exothermic reaction When calcium oxide is added to water it forms calciun hydroxide Called slaked lime.\xa0CaO +H2O → Ca(OH)2The reaction between water and CaO is an exothermic reaction. Heat is released during exothermic reaction ,rise in temperature is observed. So the container become hot when water is added to calcium oxide. |
