Why does a cricketer move his hands backwards

Answer» \bold{Hey \: mate \: here \: is \:your \: ANSWER}

A ball has HIGH momentum which is given by p = mv . The force ACTING on hands due to ball is F = change in momentum / change in time . The total change in momentum remains same. Hence a cricketer moves his hands backwards while CATCHING a ball to increase the time in which ball slows down and hence it reduces the IMPULSE of force of ball.
