Why do magnesium react with hot water only..?? Can\'t it react with cold or medium water..?? |

Answer» Magnesium reacts slowly in water but reacts vigorously with steam. The reason why Magnesium doesn\'t really react with cold water is that it becomes coated with Magnesium hydroxide which is insoluble, so it prevents water coming into contact with Magnesium. No . yes it can react with cold water also but it is very slow process to get Mg(OH)2 |
