Why distilled water doesn't conduct electricity whereas rain water does

Distilled water is pure water . Pure water does not have free electrons necessary for conducting ELECTRICITY . So it does not CONDUCT electricity .

On the other hand , water , any water is called universal solvent . It is a very good solvent . It absorbs any type of impurity readily , in fact looks for it . So in the FORMATION of RAIN clouds when water vapor RISES from surface water , and when the rain water comes down from the clouds , a lot of contaminants are absorbed in the rain water . These contaminants make rain water a good conductor of electricity .
