Why did non Cooperation movement wasnot as succesful cas Granchi ji thought

Answer»

The Non-Cooperation Movement failed when violence erupted in Chauri Chaura on February 5, 1922.

Following the Amritsar Massacre, Mohandas Gandhi called for a nonviolent protest against the British government, known as the Non-Cooperation Movement. Gandhi called for Indians to peacefully resist the "satanic" government of Britain. The movement began in on August 1, 1920, and it lasted until February 1922. Gandhi called the movement off and a failure when violence broke out in Chauri Chaura.

On February 5, 1922, a police officer attacked some locals picketing a local liquor store in Chauri Chaura, and as a result, an angry mob of peasants set fire to the local police station with 22 police officers inside. Even though the movement had successes, Gandhi called it off fearing more acts of violence, most specifically by the British. After the movement came to an end, he was arrested in March and sentenced to 6 years in prison.
