Answer» ANSWER : _________ Because cations can only donate electrons. And we know that only electrons upto 3 can be donated or accepted as if more than 3 electrons are RELEASED than, there will be sharing of electrons ( like carbons). Hence, there will be no concept of ions as ions are formed when electrons are totally given or accepted not when shared. Cations have +3 charge because they donate electrons ( electron DONORS ), So a POSITIVE charge is formed with the NUMBER of electrons donated.
