Why carbon is tetravelent??

Answer» Because it has 3 cobon
Why is carbon tetravalent?an atom is stable only when it acquires the octet electron configuration or the nearest noble gas configuration. to attain this carbon with 4 electrons in its outer most shell must either accept 4 electrons or donate four electrons, both are not possible due to the small size of carbon. so it shares four electrons with neighbouring atom and become tetravalent.
