Why carbon form only covalent bond |
|
Answer» To achieve inert gas it has to fill it\'s congregation but as carbon has 4 electrons .it can gain 4 electrons formingC4- anion but it would be difficult for nucleous to hold 10electrons. Second option is loss 4electrons but it would require large amount of energy which is not possible so it form bonds It is due to it\'s tetravalancy. As it can neither gain 4 electrons nor loose 4 electrons because both of these require large amount of force and also the ions formed after gaining or loosing electrons are highly unstable. So it overcomes this problem by sharing electrons by which it forms Covalant bond. Because carbon is non metal |
