1.

Why are grooves provided in the soles of shoes?

Answer»

Grooves let the sole flex, maintaining more grip against the ground, thereby preventing the PERSON from falling on the ground. Also, grooves allow small ITEMS such as sand or mud or water some place to GO SOONER, allowing the surface to REGAIN contact with the ground as it slides.
Similarly due to this reason the tyres of a car/bus/bike/cycle are provided with grooves,so as to increase the friction between the ground and the area in contact. Hence, preventing it from skidding.

Hope this helps you :)
